CAISEY HARLINGTEN- THE UNEXPLORED WORLD OF FUNGI

Human beings often disregard microorganisms. Fungi are present everywhere and are necessary for life to survive on Earth. They are on the ground, our food, and even present in and on our bodies. Fungi develop different mechanisms to survive and do not produce food. Fungi form a symbiotic relationship with plants and bacteria. The most common fungi are mushrooms, yeast, and molds. Scientists have conducted extensive research on fungi. Caisey Harlingten studies mushrooms used in medicines. Caisey Harlingten — Kapoose Creek Hamlet a Recreational.

Fungi in medicines: The most important discovery in the history of modern medicine is the antibiotic Penicillin. Alexander Fleming discovered Penicillin in 1928. It helps fight off infections in the human body. Mushrooms are other fungi used in medicines. Shitake, Reishi, Chaga, and lion’s mane are some types of mushrooms used to treat different diseases. Mushrooms are an integral part of traditional and alternative medicine.

Fungi in Human beings- Human beings and fungi share a lovehate relationship. Some Fungi are beneficial for humans, and some cause fungal infections. Fungi, viruses, and bacteria are organisms that live together in the human body. They live in our gut, skin, ears, etc. Fungi adapt themselves to the different parts of our body, like the stomach. Fungi, viruses, and bacteria contribute to the health of our body. They build up our immune system and digestive system.

Fungi in food- Fungi have been used extensively in the food department. Fungi contribute to some of our favorite foods and drinks. Baking bread and brewing alcohol require Fungi. There are two thousand varieties of mushrooms, and some of them are edible. People add mushrooms such as Shitake, oyster, maitake, almond portobello, and wine cap to gourmet dishes. They are considered a delicacy as some mushrooms can be grown only on small scales. People make use of fungi in the production of cheese. Blue cheese gets its unique flavor from the fungi that grow through it. The new delicacy of sourdough bread also uses natural yeast. Chocolates also owe their distinct flavor to fungi. The cacao beans used to make chocolates need fermentation to give them the unique taste loved by people of all ages. Soy Sauce uses fungi and bacteria that break down the nutrients of soybeans for a different flavor.

Fungi in plants: Plants, shrubs, bushes, etc., are connected with a network of fungi. The fungi connect all the plants and trees through the roots. Researchers have found that most plants have fungi on them. As mentioned earlier, fungi do not produce food and need someone to provide survival food. The fungi help the plants and trees absorb water and other nutrients from the soil. The plants provide food manufactured by them through photosynthesis.

Fungi play a secret and very vital role in our lives. We use fungi consciously or subconsciously every day. Some scientists have dedicated their whole life to the study of fungi. Caisey Harlingten also studies the fungi mushroom for providing humans with alternative and natural medicine.
