Each photograph in this issue is worthy of consideration in depth. There is no other way of their experiencing your fullest contribution of the equation. So is each group worth of discovering in depth. So are the groups taken together. So are the twenty-five photographs; if one wishes. And has the power of concentration to deeply experience.

Most of the generating ideas in photography now spread through personal contact. Growth can be slow and hard when you are groping alone. It quickens when you meet other photographers who have worked and thought intensively about their medium. You listen, and ask, and a phrase sticks in your memory like a barb. You see a photograph that blazes with significance. Suddenly, a way of working, dim til then, comes clear before you.
