CHILDREN’S ART AUCTION
Children’s Art This year’s Children’s Art includes works from the Young Threes through Fourth grade. Each grade has produced a single piece of unique art. Every child contributed to their grade’s piece that will be auctioned off this evening. Bid for your chance to own a stunning, original, cooperative piece showcasing your child’s entire grade!
Young Threes Goodnight Moon Our littlest Calhoun kids shyly approached the stranger in the room. “Who is this? What does she have? She can’t be too bad if she’s brought lots of our moms!” Out of her bag came paints, paint rollers, and teeny tiny paper mittens, kittens, cows, moons, and lots more little shapes from one of their favorite books: Goodnight Moon. Grownups and kids spent a happy morning learning the art of printmaking.
Threes BOOM! The Calhoun girls and boys in the Threes classroom on the 2nd floor of Little Calhoun approached this project with great enthusiasm. Working alongside Calhoun moms Hanh Livingston and Kourtney Bogard, they happily dipped the shredded ends of paper towel rolls into gold, silver, red, and blue paint. Then... splat! They smashed and mashed and swirled the paint to make a pyrotechnic display that lights up the city skyline.
The Premier Silent Auction will close at midnight. Winners will be notified and items will be available for pick-up beginning the week of February 29th.

Our Town On a Friday afternoon in December, the Calhoun Fours and moms Danielle Warren and Robin Geisler designed a city skyline that easily rivals any major cityscape. Squeeze bottles of paint in hand, the Fours enthusiastically squirted an array of earth tones colors on black paper. Lots of layering of colors seemed to be especially important. A paper sandwich was made and then quickly taken apart. The sandwich method produced beautiful, fluid patterns that transformed into buildings for the Calhoun Fours skyline.
Kindergarten While We’re Sleeping Calhoun Kindergarten kids imagined who might be out on the town after they’re asleep. Monsters, creepy crawlers, wolves mingling with fairies, lightening bugs, and Darth Vader. Bright oil pastels and super silly photos helped the Kindergarten kids realize their vision.

First Grade First Night We save many memories about the first moments we spend with our newborn children. Seeing their face for the first time. Little baby fingers and toes. Trying to change a diaper. First Night reminds us of those first moments. Calhoun moms Daphne Naylor and Deborah Patjane researched the lunar phase for each Calhoun First Grader’s birthday. First graders painted and embellished their moons to create a one-of-a-kind lunar cycle. 29

Second Grade One Crazy Night This piece requires the viewer to suspend reality! Imagine a night when our clever Calhoun Second Graders orchestrated a class-wide sneak out. Did they play telephone to get the word out? Or maybe they made plans during park. They managed to pull off one crazy night. Owls float on clouds and in hot air balloons, a giraffe flies over the moon, and kids romp in the park — all while the city sleeps. Beware the monsters lurking behind the buildings!
Third Grade Desert Silhouette Calhoun moms Daphne Naylor and Deborah Patjane were inspired by a beautiful photo of the moon in the desert. The setting sun cast an array of beautiful hues, which are reflected in the Calhoun Third Grade’s interpretation. Shades of gold, yellow, and orange were painted on a deconstructed moon. The Third Graders posed to recreate silhouetted cacti in the bottom of the original photo.
Fourth Grade The Snowy Night This is not the scene from Peter’s city apartment windows. Calhoun Fourth Graders dreamt up moonlit wintery scenes that induce hot chocolate cravings. These beautiful images were produced using painters tape, paint, and Calhoun Fourth Grade creativity. Tell your suburban friends about The Snowy Night the next time they judge you for denying your children a backyard.
The Premier Silent Auction will close at midnight. Winners will be notified and items will be available for pick-up beginning the week of February 29th.
