Preservation & Craftsmanship

Looking through the 2023 edition of The Essential Guide to Architects, Builders & Design, a theme is apparent: preservation and craftsmanship. We are surrounded by behind-the-scenes sustainability, from the historic buildings SIA (Saving Iconic Design) are fighting for, a textile Mill in downtown Los Angeles, the artisans from QuarryHouse that are continuing the legacy of craftsmanship, and Coup D’Etat for creating an incubator for artisans in their gallery-like design showrooms in San Francisco and Los Angeles. A high-priority initiative for California Homes is the support and preservation of craftsmen and artisans in California. The state has workrooms with several generations of family members continuing the legacy of artisan skills. California Homes magazine wants to support this community to ensure the next generation continues to embrace this heritage. In a state with close to 40 million residents, we have the resources to support this community.

The Essential Guide includes a selected group of architecture, building, and design industry leaders to help you bring your dreams to life. They have been carefully vetted by California Homes editors and represent the best in their field of expertise.
