Wichita Dance House
Dancing is a one of the most intricate forms of art and people’s perception of art can change depending on the backdrop. This thought was kept in mind when designing the new dance house for the dance team in Wichita Kansas. The building was to house two practice studios and one event studio with various storage and offices for the organizers. The multiple studios brought the idea to make each studio have its own unique backdrop for the dancers to enrich their experience as well as for the visitors. 3

Council Grove Public Library
About an hour south of Manhattan Kansas is the small community of Council Grove. It is a thriving city and necessitates a new public library for its ever increasing book collection. The library is to serve as a community center that includes event spaces, maker spaces, and other learning resources. The idea was to reflect main street and provide a foundation for future growth on the block. This was achieved by using limestone walls parallel to the blocks on the north to organize the spaces while tying with the context. 7

East Bottoms Vision Study
Just north of downtown Kansas City lies the Missouri River. This industrial district has been the victim of neglect and abandonment. Existing gems like knuckleheads bar and the J. Rieger brewery that have helped kept it afloat. The purpose of the East Bottoms Vision Study was to find a way to connect this district with downtown Kansas City. As a group project I led a team of 4 to focus on this district. With our studio we came up with modular cubes that can be retrofitted into multiple uses. On top of that we designed a development that could be implemented into the area to further growth and maintain connectivity to Kansas City. 13

Verona Residence
The Verona residence is one of my first projects at NSPJ. The client, a prominent developer, wanted to update some landscape design in his backyard. I started with a site visit and field measuring existing landmarks. I drew up with the initial layout of cabana addition and reworked the areas around it. After the plans were made I brought it into sketchup and Lumion with many refinements to material choices. 19

Tom Brown Residence
The Tom Brown Residence has been my favorite project I have worked on at NSPJ. The client came to us to rework an existing house plan with a few additions. Those additions more than doubled the sqft. And there is still work being added, but not on the house itself. Anytime he had a question he would call me and I would give him guidance and ideas. He has been a general contractor for most of his life so that made the design process go smoother than other projects. 21

Filson Childcare Facility
The Filson Childcare Facility is my most recent project. Right now it is in the construction phase with multiple changes to the original set, RFI’s, submittals, ect. The project is an old church that is being converted to a childcare facility. This is my first project where I have voluntary taken a more managerial side of the project. I am responsible with coordinating with all the consultants, contractor and owner for any changes that have come up to the project. It is challenging but I have learned so much in the 6-8 months that I have worked on it. 25
