The Ember Background: I have a profound admiration for the outdoors and was therefore obsessed with trying to make my outdoors experience more intimate with my surroundings. Brief: I gave myself the brief of giving an object an additional role in the context of camping. Solution: An open fire stove that uses spare tent pegs as its support. It uses 3mm water jet cut stainless steel for the frame and mesh wiring for the grill. The solution saves weight compared to competition and gives spare tent pegs another use.

Model Making Creating rough models allows an insight onto the shapes, sizes and styles I would like to see in my final design. It also allows the prototypes to be tested for weight, strength and fine tuning.

Creative Conversation Background: Competition entry for the RSA/RBS creative condition brief. Brief: Design and develop a compeling vision and business case for an environment or situation that prompts and fosters creative thinking. Solution: The Creative cafe idea was based on allowing rural communities to have a specfic location and event to meet and gain contacts in the specific industry. The creative container would provide the cafe along with the pods and produce a creative atmosphere and condition to spark greatness in people.

These quick sketches help describe the idea behind how the space might be used, creatively. The models also show how the square pods are to be interacted with the container cafe.

Microscope Background: Third year project designed to test our CAD and technical drawing skills. Brief: Design a microscope that will inspire young children to become interested in science. Solution: A NASA inspired microscope that uses a fresh and exciting zooming mechanism. It is designed to teach children how magnification works by requiring them to physically magnify.

MECHANISM The mechanism is simple. Push the top part down and the and the magnification decreases. Pull the top part back up and the microscope magnification increases. The arms lift off from the ground and lower the top part in a rocketship fashion.

Background: Competition entry for Starpack award. Brief: Redesign the Listerene mouthwash packaging taking biomimicry into consideration. Solution: Inspired by the stem of a leaf and a hip flask. This portable, plastic mouthwash is designed to allow the user to take a sip of fresh breath to every last drop.
