Inspiration for your 2021/22 customers

Welcome / Failte To the Caledonian MacBrayne Travel Trade Product Planner for 2021 where I hope you will find inspiration when planning your tours to the West Coast of Scotland.

Contact Information

The effect of the Gulfstream has provided this part of Scotland with a unique micro climate that allows palm trees to grow on the seafront at Rothesay, plants from the rainforests of South America to flourish in the gardens at Arduaine in Argyll and Achamore on Gigha and beaches on Harris that are more akin to the Caribbean than you would have thought possible in the North West of Scotland.

Our dedicated Travel Trade Department will liaise with you to create an exceptional coach touring package taking in all the stunning scenery that the Clyde and Hebridean islands and peninsulas have to offer.

2021 coach fares have been agreed with the Scottish Government whilst passenger and coach fares for 2022 have been estimated in order to provide indicative costs (actual fares won’t be confirmed until the end of 2021).

ROTHESAY

Tour to the Isle of Bute Bute is only 33 miles from Glasgow (as the crow flies) Bute is one of the most accessible of the westerly islands from the Scottish Central Belt. It’s a peaceful island haven, just a stone’s throw away from the mainland. Bute is only 15 miles long by 4 miles wide but there is loads to see and do. The wonderful West Island Way is an island-long marked trail – it’s a great way to see Bute’s flora and fauna and of course the views to Arran and Cowal. Bute is renowned for its glorious gardens and grand architecture. The Esplanade Gardens on the front are a summer favourite. Why not visit Ardencraig Gardens on Canada Hill which features a walled garden and an exotic aviary. The marvellous Ascog Fernery is a beautiful garden with specimen planting and the fernery is a cool oasis on a hot day.

Tour Route

Rothesay and Port Bannatyne are great places for a bite to eat with cafes, bistros, bars and restaurants. This circular tour encompasses some of the most outstanding scenery Scotland has to offer – along the Bonnie Banks of Loch Lomond and through the Arrochar Alps to the shores of Loch Fyne. 1 ISLE OF ARRAN DISTILLERY

IS2 ISLAY DISTILLERIES

The Distillery Visitor Centre was officially opened by Her Majesty The Queen in 1997 and is situated right next to the distillery. After visiting the Distillery there is plenty of time to take a tour around the island when there is the opportunity for your customers to take in the breath taking seascapes over to Kintyre and south towards the volcanic plug that is known as Ailsa Craig.

IONA

3 OBAN DISTILLERY

Islay is justifiably famous for its distinctive smoky and peaty single malt whisky and as of 2018 will have nine working distilleries – Bruichladdich, Bowmore, Laphroaig, Lagavulin, Caol Ila, Kilchoman, Bunnahabhain, Ardbeg and Ardnahoe. Jura produces its own signature malt too at the tiny Jura Distillery and all nine are well worth a visit.

Oban Distillery is both one of the oldest distilleries in Scotland and one of the smallest with just two pot stills. Pre-dating the town of Oban, it was originally established in 1794 by brothers John and Hugh Stevenson. It underwent a refurbishment in the 1890s. Oban Distillery is both one of the oldest distilleries in Scotland and one of the smallest with just two pot stills.
