Welcome | Fàilte On behalf of everyone at Caledonian MacBrayne, I would like to wish you a warm welcome on board our vessels. Whether you are a first-time visitor or a regular traveller to Scotland’s west coast, the islands and peninsulas to which we sail, offer something for everyone. CalMac is focused on delivering customer service to the highest standards possible and we were delighted when this was recognised at the National Transport Awards where we were named Ferry Operator of the Year 2018. This prestigious award was open to ferry operators running services from ports in the UK and Ireland and required us to show how we had improved services and facilities, backed with figures on performance, reliability, passenger growth and customer satisfaction. In addition, CalMac has become the first organisation in the country to be awarded a new level of ‘Global Standard’ accreditation for the helpfulness and professionalism of its customer operations staff by the Contact Centre Association (CCA). We remain committed to developing our services and continuing to improve the customer experience for all our passengers. So to both our regular passengers and visitors alike, we wish you a safe and enjoyable crossing and hope your CalMac journey is every bit as memorable to you as your destination. Robbie Drummond, Managing Director, Caledonian MacBrayne

Delve into our West Coast Waters When you ask locals why people should visit Scotland during one of its now world-famous themed years their answer is usually that people don’t need to wait for a theme - they should visit Scotland any time. Recently though that answer has changed. When it was announced that 2020 would be a year themed around coast and water it opened the floodgates on imaginations. Through the West Coast Waters collaboration, the rugged west coast of Scotland is set to showcase the best it has to offer from watersports, trails of discovery, festivals and even a baton relay. As well as supporting and joining up these amazing experiences CalMac ferries will be playing host to the National Theatre of Scotland who will be sharing islands stories through drama and song on-board during sailings. The attraction of the Scottish west coast for many is the challenge of the natural environment. Whether your plan is to try open water swimming, hill walking or just immersing yourself in the restorative powers of nature the one thing we can guarantee is that on the Scottish West Coast and Islands there will be no shortage of water. No trip to Scotland would be complete without a visit to one of the many distilleries to see another great use for fresh water and why not sample that with some of the delicious local seafood produce which is caught locally. You can also pick up a great range of gin or whisky on the ferry. As well as a wealth of coast and water events the usual festivals, ceilidhs and parties will be in full swing in 2020 so remember to book your transport in advance to ensure your journey is as seamless as possible. Every journey starts a story and the planning for yours starts right here.

CUSTOMER INFORMATION Please take time to read the following information, it may be useful before, during and after your trip

Tickets and reservations RESERVATION ARRANGEMENTS Advanced payment or details of tickets held are required for all bookings. April to September is our busy period and on reservable routes we would strongly recommend making a vehicle booking. You can however travel without a reservation if there is space available. From October to March, many services run less often, so booking in advance could save lengthy waiting times at the port. Some routes are non-reservable. To find out which routes are reservable/nonreservable check the route timetable. If you buy an island hopscotch ticket ® and choose not to book all reservable routes included in the ticket, you will not be guaranteed space on sailings for which you do not hold a booking. Where a vehicle is booked for a journey and fails to show before check-in closes, no refund will be due, and any ticket used to make the reservation will be considered used, unless you have contacted us to change your reservation prior to check-in. CONNECTING SERVICES When planning a journey that requires connecting services, be realistic about the journey length and allow extra time for unexpected delays. Ferry services can sometimes be affected by bad weather and tidal issues. Rail services can be amended and traffic can be delayed by roadworks. Train timings in our timetables are reproduced from information supplied by ScotRail and are for guidance only. Always check train times with ScotRail when planning a journey. CalMac does not accept liability for any claims, losses, expenses or any related costs incurred due to a passenger missing connecting services including, but not limited to accommodation or, travel by bus, train or taxi (unless covered by EU Passenger Rights Regulation EU1177/2010). For example, where the arrival time of a train allows less than the advertised minimum boarding time for the ferry (see individual timetables), the connection cannot be assumed or guaranteed. Passengers should confirm connections with individual operators. PASSENGER ASSISTANCE If you have reduced mobility, are travelling with young children, or with a lot of luggage, we will do our best to make your journey stress-free. If you need assistance, let us know when you book, or at least 48 hours before your scheduled departure time. You can call us on 0800 066 5000 or +44 1475 650397 (for international customers) or email: assistanceteam@calmac.co.uk. We do not normally provide assistance at unmanned ports, but if you need help, contact the Assistance team and they will help where possible. If booking through a travel agent or tour operator, and you require assistance, please ask them to book assistance with us. We cannot guarantee that we can arrange assistance if this has not been requested 48 hours before your scheduled departure time. BLUE BADGE A 25% discount is available on the price of a vehicle ticket (car/motorhome/motorbike) for customers who hold a Blue Badge issued by a member state of the European Union. The discount does not apply to the passenger/ driver ticket. To qualify for the discount the Blue Badge holder must be travelling. The Blue Badge must be shown when the vehicle ticket is purchased, carried at the time of travel and presented when requested. If the Blue Badge is not presented then the full fare will apply. VALIDITY OF TICKETS Any ticket for travel on CalMac services issued by CalMac, or any other operator, company or person, upon whose property or premises the ticket may be available, is subject to the Conditions of Carriage published by CalMac. Most tickets are only valid for set dates - these are printed on your tickets. Restrictions may apply. Not every type of ticket is available on every route. Single - Valid on the date and route for which it is issued. Return - Valid for one month on the route for which it is issued. We strongly recommend you 44

reserve your return sailing at the time of your initial booking in order to guarantee space on your preferred sailing. 50 Journey - Only available on Colintraive/ Rhubodach and Wemyss Bay/Rothesay services. Ticket includes car and driver. Valid for one nominated motorised vehicle or two nominated motorised vehicles, if they are registered at the same address. Only valid if attached to the ticket control portion. Valid for 12 months from date of issue. Ticket is non-transferable and non-refundable. Flexi-ticket - Valid for one passenger or one nominated motorised vehicle. Only valid if attached to the ticket control portion. Valid for duration of timetable period in which it is issued. Ticket is non-refundable. Island Hopscotch® - Valid for one month. Season Tickets - Are available to passengers on Largs/Cumbrae Slip, Wemyss Bay/Rothesay and Gourock/Dunoon services. Valid for periods of one, three, six and twelve months. Oban/Craignure service valid for periods of six and twelve months only. Defaced, damaged, or destroyed tickets If a ticket is defaced or illegible, it will not be accepted for travel. Tickets which have been damaged, destroyed or are illegible will not be replaced or refunded. RECEIPTS Receipts can only be issued when you buy your ticket. AMENDMENTS TO A BOOKING Changes to a booking will be accepted up to 48 hours prior to departure. Any changes affecting the use of vehicle deck space will be subject to an administration charge. Full details are available on our website and at Ports. CANCELLING A BOOKING If a booking is cancelled, the amount refunded will be calculated based on the amount of notice given prior to departure, and subject to an administration charge. Full details are available on our website and at Ports. LOST TICKETS If your ticket has been mislaid, lost or stolen, you will need to buy a replacement. If the ticket is subsequently found and returned to Customer Care in Gourock, and has not expired on receipt, then a full refund less an administration charge will be paid. REFUNDS We offer refunds or partial refunds on most tickets. We do not refund expired or used tickets. To find out if your ticket is refundable and how to get a refund, go to a port office or contact us via email: enquires@calmac. co.uk or telephone: 0800 066 5000 or for international customers: +44 1475 650397. An administration charge will be applied to each refund per customer. COLLECTING TICKETS For many bookings, tickets can be collected at the port of departure. Make sure you allow sufficient time to collect your tickets before checking in. You must have your booking reference number and, for identification purposes (unless stated otherwise), the credit/debit card used to make the purchase. When you book we will advise how to get your tickets. Booking Information VEHICLES The charge per vehicle depends on its type and length. Vehicle charges for each route are shown on individual timetables. The length of a vehicle includes any racks, tow bars etc. and any overhanging roof rack items. Make sure you give us an accurate length measurement when you make your booking. If your vehicle is a different size than stated, you may have to pay a charge and we might not be able to accommodate you on board at busy times. CARS All cars are charged at the same rate irrespective of length. Please make sure you provide us with an accurate measurement of the car’s length - including any racks, etc. - so we can ensure we have enough space on the ship. Vans (not exceeding 6 metres long, 3 metres high, 2.3 metres wide and 3.5 tonnes plated weight), are charged at the light goods vehicle rate. This includes the driver’s fare.

TRAILERS, CARAVANS AND BOATS • When towed by a car or a van (not exceeding 6 metres long, 3 metres high, 2.3 metres wide and 3.5 tonnes plated weight) - charged by length, up to 2.5, 6 or 8 metres, as appropriate. Over 8 metres will be charged at commercial vehicle rates. • When towed by a commercially rated vehicle (e.g. van exceeding 6 metres etc.). The combined length will be charged at commercial vehicle rates. • Livestock trailer rates are available on request. • Horse transporters are charged at commercial vehicle rates. MINIBUSES AND COACHES • Minibuses not exceeding 5 metres are charged at the same rate as a car. Does not include the driver’s fare. • Minibuses/midi coaches 5 - 6 metres are charged at the light goods vehicle rate. This includes the driver’s fare. • Coaches over 6 metres are charged at coach rates. This includes the driver’s fare. MOTORHOMES A motorhome is defined as a windowed vehicle with permanent living facilities. This does not include horse boxes and other livestock carriers. If you have a UK vehicle your V5 document should show the body type of your motorhome as ‘Motor Caravan’. If you have a converted van which we consider not to be a motorhome, you will be charged the appropriate van fare. It is a good idea to carry a copy of your V5 with you when you are travelling in a converted van. If you are travelling in a converted van and do not have a copy of your V5 (identifying the vehicle as a ‘Motor Caravan’) with you, you can request a refund if you have been charged the appropriate van fare. Send a copy of the receipt and your V5 to Customer Care within 30 days of travel and consideration will be given to refunding the excess fare paid less a refund charge. • Motorhomes up to 12 metres - charged by length, up to 6, 8, 10 and 12 metres, as appropriate. • Motorhomes over 12 metres - commercial vehicle rates apply. OTHER VEHICLES Light vans and pickups not exceeding 6 metres long, 3 metres high, 2.3 metres wide and 3.5 tonnes plated weight are charged at the light goods vehicle rate. This includes the driver’s fare. Light vans and pickups that exceed any of these sizes or weights, by any amount, are charged at commercial vehicle rates. Vehicles over 3.5 tonnes plated weight require to be fitted with lashing points and must produce a written declaration of the gross vehicle weight and description of load at the time of shipment - please refer to the Commercial Vehicle Conditions of Shipment (October 2008) leaflet for full details. All commercial vehicles, light vans and pickups based on a commercial vehicle chassis exceeding 6 metres, are charged at commercial vehicle rates. The driver’s fare is included in the commercial vehicle rate. DIMENSIONS Vehicles will be measured prior to embarkation. Vehicles which exceed the declared dimensions, by any amount, will be charged the correct fare and may not be accommodated on board at busy times. COMMERCIAL AND LIGHT GOODS VEHICLES WEIGHING INFORMATION Commercial vehicle and light goods vehicle operators are reminded that it is the responsibility of the operator and the driver to ensure that the vehicle is not loaded over the plated weight. Vehicles in excess of their plated weight will be refused shipment. Any vehicle weighing over 3.5 tonnes will be charged as a commercial vehicle for the purpose of shipment. LASHING POINTS (VEHICLE SECURING POINTS) Commercial vehicles exceeding 3.5 tonnes Gross Vehicle Mass (GVM) must be fitted with lashing points which can be used to secure the vehicle to the car deck in accordance with

Ro-Ro ships: stowing and securing of vehicles code of practice issued by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency, and the requirements stated in CalMac’s Commercial Vehicles Conditions and Charges leaflet (available from any office). Customers should satisfy themselves that they comply with the code of practice in all respects. Vehicles travelling on services between Wemyss Bay/Rothesay, Largs/ Cumbrae Slip, Colintraive/Rhubodach and Tarbert/Portavadie are not required to comply with the code of practice (except when carrying dangerous goods or livestock - see relevant sections of the code). However, on these routes we strongly advise customers to comply with the Code of Practice and we reserve the right to decline shipment of vehicles without securing points in adverse weather. Vehicles travelling on all other routes will be refused shipment if they do not comply with this Code of Practice. MOTORCYCLES We recommend that you book in advance on reservable routes if travelling by motorcycle, as space may be limited. Motorcycles can only be positioned and secured or released on car decks by, or under the supervision of, CalMac staff. BICYCLES/KAYAKS/CANOES/SURFBOARDS These items are carried free of charge and will be stored on the car deck. Boarding will be via the car deck. Please follow the directions of the crew on where to store them. On some routes space is limited and it may not be possible to store all bicycles in an upright position. All cyclists, especially groups, are advised to get in touch with us on the day before travel to check availability of bicycle space. ROOF AND BICYCLE RACKS In some cases we may ask you to remove bicycles or other items from the roof rack of your vehicle, where there is a possibility of any of them striking the ship’s structure. Check-in IMPORTANCE OF CHECK-IN TIMES All passengers must be in possession of a valid ticket at time of travel. Whether foot passengers or vehicle drivers, passengers who arrive later than the displayed check-in closure times cannot be guaranteed boarding. The check-in closure times are extremely important and failure to meet these times will result in your booking being recorded as a no-show and your vehicle space being reallocated. If there are vehicles waiting in the unbooked lane and you do not arrive for the displayed check-in closure time, the port staff will reallocate your space to a vehicle in the unbooked lane. You may also be required to pay for another reservation if you choose to rebook on a later sailing. PASSENGER COUNTING REGULATIONS Under the Merchant Shipping (Counting and Registration of Persons on Board Passenger Ships) Regulations 1999 under European Council Directive 98/41/EC and enforced by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency, it is a requirement that details of the number of passengers and crew on board are recorded and reported before the ship leaves port. In order to comply with the regulations, and to ensure that sailings depart on time, the gangway will be removed and vehicle decks closed prior to sailing time, whilst this information is passed ashore and recorded. Vehicle drivers must comply with check-in times and passengers must be available for boarding prior to the advertised sailing time (see timetables). Late arrival or checking-in may lead to the passenger and/or vehicle being refused carriage. PASSENGER REGISTRATION Please note that regulations requiring the recording of passenger details (name, sex, date of birth) apply to the following routes in both directions: • Ardrossan - Campbeltown • Campbeltown - Brodick • Oban - Castlebay • Oban - Colonsay • Oban - Coll • Oban - Lochboisdale • Oban - Tiree • Coll - Tiree
