This dynamic event offers multiple opportunities for career development, productive networking, and gaining an authentic leadership skill-set. I am delighted to join those who support the success of women in fields that have historically seen majority male representation. We are pleased to welcome accomplished presenters who will share their knowledge of the industry and unique experiences in their career fields. The planning committee has created a program focusing on leadership within each conference track. I am confident that you will find the program balanced, informative, and valuable for both the target audiences: those who are developing themselves and those who are developing others. Tosca Pinder graduated from Cal Maritime in 2010 with a BS in International Business and Logistics. After graduation, she worked in Labor Relations for the Pacific Maritime Association, representing association members in the negotiation and administration of ILWU collective bargaining agreements. Pinder and her husband moved to Seattle, Washington in late 2015, where she completed her MS degree in Transportation and Engineering Management through Cal Maritime. Post-graduation, she worked in Sales and Marketing for Starlight Marine Services, assisting the organization in entering a new market to provide ship assist services for companies operating in the Puget Sound. She currently works as a Maritime Producer at ABD Insurance and Financial Services, working with clients to find comprehensive and innovative marine insurance solutions.
Amanda Wallace currently serves as Marine Superintendent, US Flag & Lightering Fleet at Chevron. Her previous roles have included Captain for the Mississippi Voyager - Chevron Shipping; Third Mate on the Dredge Essayons, USACE; Mate/Deckhand on tractor tugs in the Bay Area; and Volunteer Captain on the Jeremiah O’Brien. Amanda is a 2006 graduate in Marine Transportation from Cal Maritime. Her personal interests include traveling, hiking with her dog, volunteering with Sea Scouts, and boating on the San Francisco Bay.
Sheila Maude LaFleur is a 2002 alumna of the Cal Maritime. She graduated with a B.S. in Business Administration, a minor in Law and a 3rd Mates License. She went to sea and obtained her Unlimited Masters license as she sailed up to Chief Mate during her 7 years with Military Sealift Command aboard tankers, break bulk, special purpose vessels and an ocean going tug. Upon coming shoreside in 2009, she started working as a third party recruiter in the maritime industry and helped many maritime industry professionals (and Cal Maritime grads) transition into more advanced careers. In recognition of her accomplishments, she was selected as the 2015 Rising Star Award recipient for her work in maritime industry. She now has her own firm, Trackline Search Partners, and continues to provide recruit-ing and consulting services for her clients in the shipping and transportation indus-tries. She lives in Florida with her husband and two sons.

Friday Dinner Speaker CAPTAIN JENNIFER L. ELLINGER UNITED STATES NAVY
CAPTAIN JEN ELLINGER graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 1993 with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in General Science. Shortly after receiving her commission, CAPT Ellinger reported aboard USS SHASTA (AE 33) in Alameda, California and served as the Second Division Deck Officer, Combat Information Center Officer, and Machinery and Boilers (M & B) Officer from April 1994 to March 1997. During her second Division Officer tour, she served as the Navigator and Admin Officer aboard USS BENFOLD (DDG 65) in San Diego, California, from March 1997 to September 1998. Upon completion of Surface Warfare Department Head training, she reported aboard USS DECATUR (DDG 73) and served as the Operations Officer from 2002-2003, deploying in support of Operations ENDURING FREEDOM and IRAQI FREEDOM. During her follow-on Department Head tour at Destroyer

Squadron SEVEN (CDS 7), she served as Operations Officer / N3 from December 2003 to July 2005, embarked aboard USS RONALD REAGAN (CVN 76). From December 2006 to June 2008, she served as Executive Officer in USS BARRY (DDG 52), home ported in Norfolk, Virginia. CAPT Ellinger reported to USS KIDD (DDG 100) as Executive Officer in October 2010 and fleeted-up to Commanding Officer, serving from June 2011- January 2013. While in command, she deployed with the JOHN C. STENNIS Strike Group to the SEVENTH and FIFTH Fleet Areas of Responsibility where KIDD executed several Theater Security Cooperation missions and served as the flagship for CTF 151 in support of CounterPiracy operations off the Horn of Africa. KIDD’s deployment was highlighted by the rescue of 13 Iranian fishermen and capture of 15 Somali pirates. During her tenure, KIDD earned three consecutive Battle “Es” and Retention Excellence Awards. CAPT Ellinger’s assignments ashore include a tour as the Ground Operations Officer and Command Safety Officer at Assault Craft Unit FIVE (ACU 5) on Camp Pendleton, California from September 1997 to May 2001. Additionally, she served as Flag Secretary to the Commander, U.S. SECOND Fleet from June 2008 to December 2009; and Chief Staff Officer for Commander, Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) Squadron ONE, from February 2013 to December 2015. Prior to taking command of USS LAKE CHAMPLAIN (CG57), she served as Deputy Commodore, Destroyer Squadron TWENTY ONE (CDS 21)

from August 2016 to Sept 2017. While in command of LAKE CHAMPLAIN, CAPT Ellinger completed a deployment as Air Defense Commander for the CARL VINSON Strike Group as part of Commander, THIRD Fleet Forward to the SEVENTH Fleet AOR, as well as independent operations in the FOURTH Fleet AOR, Silent Forces Exercise (SIFOREX) 2018 and Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) 2018. CAPT Ellinger is a distinguished graduate of the Surface Warfare Officer School’s perspective Department Head and Executive Officer courses, and was the recipient of both the Arleigh Burke Leadership Award and Knachel Leadership Award, respectively. Additionally, she was a recipient of the Commander Naval Surfaces Forces Pacific 2004 Tactician of the Year Award, and the 2012 Freedom Alliance ‘Service to America’ Award. A graduate of the Naval War College’s Command and Staff course, she completed JPME Phase I and earned a Master’s Degree in National Security and Strategic Studies in 2006, and completed JPME Phase II at the Joint Forces Staff College in March 2016.

Saturday Lunch Speaker KRISTINA BOWDEN
WEST COAST RESOURCE SERVICES, INC. KRISTINA BOWDEN is the President and owner of West Coast Resource Services, Inc., a consulting firm specializing in occupational safety and health for terminal and stevedore operators. The founding principles of the organization are based on the belief that safety is a value which can be integrated into all operational priorities while understanding where risk resides in the workplace. Kristina supports clients in their safety responsibilities through the development or refinement of existing programs, policies, and curriculum.
In the ten-year period that preceded the launching of West Coast Resource Services, Inc., Kristina was the Assistant Director of Health, Safety, and Environment at Ports America, the largest terminal operator and stevedore in the United States. In that time, her primary role was the development, implementation, and management of safety programs unique to the stevedoring environment. Her foundational base of industry knowledge began in vessel operations. Kristina is a passionate safety professional and has made several significant contributions to the stevedoring industry with regards to safety improvements. She is best known in the industry for her groundbreaking work on the Southern California Joint Accident Prevention Committee Lashing Sub-Committee. She is the author of “Casey the Container,� a rhyming picture book which introduces the topic of cargo handling to young readers in the most fascinating and smile creating way. Available March 2019. Kristina is a graduate of the Cal Maritime and served as Corps Commander in 2003. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Marine Transportation, an Academic Minor in Maritime Law and a USCG Unlimited Third Mate License.

Closing Speaker ALLY CEDENO
WOMEN OFFSHORE ALLY CEDENO is the Founder of Women Offshore and a 2008 graduate of the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy. She is licensed as a chief mate of unlimited tonnage vessels and dynamic positioning operator. Ally's experience on the water spans both the maritime and offshore energy industries over the last 10 years. Her latest vessel was a 7th-generation, ultra-deepwater drillship built in South Korea in 2017. Ally spent much of her career at sea as one of the only women in operations on the vessels

she worked on, yet she is determined to change that with Women Offshore, an online organization and resource center for a diverse workforce on the water. Women Offshore shines a light on women in operations, provides resources to foster long-term careers, and shares the latest efforts on gender diversity and inclusion in the offshore and maritime industries.

1100-1200 • Rizza Ian Wallace, Tamara Burback Advancing Gender Equity at Cal Maritime is a project supported by the CSU Middle Leadership Academy (MLA) that is aimed at shifting cultural change in the campus organizational culture. Our presentation will describe the three pillars of our approach, which are admissions, leadership, and health and safety, as well as the specific efforts of our team in each of these areas. This session will discuss the project in the context of broader applications to the maritime industry, emphasizing the relevance of being aware of gender dynamics and differential experiences at the academies to industry environments. Participants will be engaged during the presentation with small group exercises, having multiple presenters, a Q&A session, as well as applications to other workplace environments in the maritime field.

This session will address a strengths-based approach to 360-degree leadership. Participants will have the opportunity to assess and reflect on their personal strengths and discover how they can effectively apply these assets in the workplace to increase impact and accelerate career growth.

1030-1200 • Classroom 102 Helen Krug Von Nidda Conflict – whether between managers and employees, colleagues, or with third parties outside of the organization – is inevitable within any work environment. How we as workplace leaders manage it can have major bearing on the experiences, retention, and overall job satisfaction of our team members. Using industry-specific scenarios, this workshop will define common causes of workplace conflict and provide concrete strategies for handling conflict and addressing performance issues with both authority and compassion. 1415-1545 • Classroom 102 Christi Calvert, Elizabeth Simenstad, Chae Guillot A growing body of research suggests that teams featuring diverse voices consistently achieve better measurable outcomes for their organizations than more homogenous groups. As a leader, the ability to support individuals from a variety of backgrounds, levels of educational attainment, and genders in their career development is crucial. This session will feature insights from leaders who have successfully managed personnel development initiatives to the benefit of their employees, their teams, and their companies at large, and will recommend best practices for implementing a culture of development in any work environment.

1600-1730 • Classroom 102 Chevron Panel While some strides have been made in recent years toward increased gender inclusivity within the maritime industry, the continued underrepresentation of women in maritime worldwide is both apparent in and impacted by the workplace cultures of many organizations. This session will offer suggestions for influencing and shifting organizational culture, especially in regards to issues of diversity and inclusion. The speaker will share both examples of organizations that have navigated cultural shifts and strategies for making a positive impact on the organizational culture in your current workplace, whether you’re new to a leadership role in your department or sitting at the helm.

2019 Session Panelists ALEXANDRA ANAGNOSTIS-IRONS Alexandra Anagnostis-Irons is the founder and President of Total Marine Solutions (TMS) headquartered in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Alex started her shipping career in the cruise sector and enjoyed over 16 years serving in a number of executive roles within Marine & Technical Operations. She left the cruise industry in September 2000 as Royal Caribbean’s Director, Technical Purchasing to launch Total Marine Solutions. Her objective was to develop an organization with a focus on supplying MARPOL compliant solutions to ship owners and operators with the highest levels of support and customer service. The combination of strong, long-standing partnerships with solid manufacturers of proven technology and razor sharp customer focus has proven to be a solid foundation from which TMS has evolved and continues to prosper. With global support and presence, TMS works closely with their clients in strengthening their compliance culture from all markets of the industry – cruise, commercial, offshore, government and mega yachts. Alex holds both her Master’s Degree in Business Administration and undergraduate degree in Accounting from Barry University in Miami. She is actively involved in a number of marine organizations and currently serves as Membership Secretary of WISTA USA – Women’s International Shipping & Trading Association, is a Board Member for Seafarers’ House Port Everglades, Coast Guard Foundation, as well as Broward Navy Days. MARY O. ANDREWS Mary Andrews is President of Andrews Performance Corporation, a San Diego based company that provides Business & Life Coaching, Keynote Speeches, and Performance Consulting for individuals, teams and organizations who are up to playing a big game. Mary holds the designation of Professional WW W. CSU M . E D U / W M L
Certified Coach through the International Coach Federation, which upholds the standards of professional business and life coaching. She was a member of the 1980 United States Olympic Team in the women’s javelin event and was awarded the Congressional Gold Medal of Achievement. A graduate of Stanford University, Mary is the proud mom of three young men, including a Cal Maritime alumnus. TAMARA BURBACK Tamara Burback is a Marine Vocational Instructor at the California State University Maritime Academy and a U.S. Coast Guard Unlimited Tonnage Master. Her background is in national and international bulk shipping trades with experience in heavy-lift special purpose cargoes, inland ferries, and P & I inspection. Captain Burback currently teaches Navigation and Bridge Simulation courses to Marine Transportation undergraduates. She is originally from the Bay Area, has an M.S. in Environmental Policy and Management from American Public University, and is an alumnus of the California State University Maritime Academy, with a B.S. in Marine Transportation, Class of 2007. CHRISTI CALVERT Christi Calvert started working at Crowley Maritime in 1978 at the age of 19. She started as a cook and worked her way up to A.B, Mate, and then to Captain in 1986. She has worked ship assist, inter harbor barge transport and offshore towing. She has also operated direct reversible, single screw, twin screw, Z-Drive, and Voith Shnieder tugs. She currently has 1600 ton Master and Long Beach & Los Angeles Pilotage. In 1997, she retired from full time work to raise her son. Since 1999, she has been working relief for Crowley Maritime in San Diego Harbor and Long Beach/Los Angeles.
SAMANTHA CIBELLI Samantha Cibelli is a Trade Manager for Siem Car Carriers, a Norwegian shipping line. She manages a fleet of five vessels in Pacific trade where she is responsible for voyage profit and loss, cargo volume forecasting and cost budgeting as well as business development. She is a Texas Maritime graduate. Prior to joining Siem, she sailed third mate on Jones She is currently working on her MBA at Northeastern University. She has served as a Marine Inspector with the U.S. Coast Guard for three years and is a reservist now. CHAE GUILLOT Chae Guillot has been a full-time ferry Captain for Blue and Gold Fleet for the past four years. She drives up to fourteen different SF Bay Ferry vessels throughout the San Francisco Bay. While she absolutely loves her job, especially the challenges, she continually strives for growth and improvement. CAITLIN HARDY Caitlin has a diverse background in new vessel construction, naval architecture, and project management. She joined Holland America Group in the fall of 2017 where she oversees the continuous improvement and process alignment team within fleet operations for Holland America Line, Princess Cruises, Seabourn, and P&O Australia. At Foss Maritime she was an Owner’s Representative and Project Manager supporting new vessel construction and the implementation of small scale LNG bunkering in the United States. Caitlin has a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Naval Architecture from the United States Naval Academy and is currently earning her MBA from the Foster School of Business at the University of Washington.

2019 Session Panelists LEAH HEBERT Leah Hebert is a Project Manager for Oceaneering. A 1991 graduate from the University of Southwestern Louisiana, Leah served in the United States Navy from 1991 until 1995, including as Electronics Technician onboard USNS Walter S. Diehl from 1993-1995. Directly out of the Navy, she was hired on with Oceaneering as an Electronics Technician with ROVs offshore. After two years, she was promoted to Supervisor and a year later to Senior Supervisor. She worked as an offshore ROV Senior Supervisor for 11 years before, in her words, “giving up the glamorous life of offshore to come into the office.” She has served in onshore operations and project management roles since 2008, including in Trinidad as Oceaneering’s In-Country Project Manager. SUNAINA LOBO Strategic People/HR leader | Catalyst for Solutions That Accelerate Business Outcomes Global HR leader, with a keen ability to align HR strategy with business strategy. Coaches HR, business leaders, and C-suite executives to achieve their highest potential. Capable of leading through accelerated growth, rapid change, and transitioning underperforming organizations into highly effective, top performers. Lived, worked and excelled in a number of countries and cultures Suni has a strong ability to translate HR/Talent strategy aligned to business strategy; an excellent balance of strategic focus along with operational delivery; and superior business consultation and coaching skills in complex transformation scenarios. She also has a keen eye for talent and is focused on developing HR and business leaders, to achieve their highest potential. Suni has held a number of senior HR and Business leadership positions at SVB Financial Services, Cisco Systems, ANZ Bank and Standard Chartered Bank – in the US, Australia, New Zealand, India, Sngapore, London and China. She currently is the Chief People Officer at Navis, LLC Suni has Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Accounting, an Advanced Masters in Human Resources and OD and is a certified coach. She is an accomplished speaker and published author. 10

HOLLY OSEN Holly Osen is currently OE Assurance, Security and Emergency Management Manager for Chevron Shipping. Holly has an extensive background in logistics and sales with various companies, and has also worked for Cal Maritime in Admissions, Extended Learning, Public Affairs and Career Placement. Holly is a 1987 Cal Maritime graduate with a B.S. in Nautical Industrial Technology, and earned a Master of Public Administration from Golden Gate University. Her areas of expertise include health, environment, safety, and emergency management. In her personal time, Holly enjoys volunteering in the community and spends time with her kids. BECKY PIKS Becky Piks serves as Strategy & Planning Analyst, Shipping at Chevron. Her previous roles have included Hull & Systems Engineer, Hull & Systems Superintendent (Korea), and Reliability Engineer. Becky possesses both a BSE and an MSE in Naval Architecture & Marine Engineering from the University of Michigan. DELPHINE PRÉVOST Delphine Prévost joined the Port of Oakland in 1997 as a project manager for the Port’s Environmental Division, managing the Port’s dredging program and the redevelopment of the 400-acre former Oakland Naval Supply

Center. She then went on to work in both the private and non-profit sectors on a variety of Bay-Delta resource and real estate development projects. In 2007, she returned to the Port of Oakland as a senior project manager. Delphine is currently Manager of Administration and Finance Services for the Port’s Maritime Division. Her areas of responsibility include marine and rail terminal leasing, management of rates and charges, implementation of select infrastructure projects, and various programmatic initiatives. She holds a BA from the University of California, Berkeley, and an MBA from McGill University. HELEN KRUG VON NIDDA Helen Krug von Nidda is a contagiously optimistic Executive Coach and trainer with over 20 years of international HR experience in recruitment, people development and talent management. Helen is the founder of Rise-Collective, a boutique coaching and consulting practice focused on supporting women’s professional growth. She was formerly HR Strategic Partner at the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), Director of Talent Management at the International Rescue Committee (IRC) and has worked for UNICEF, the United Nations, the World Wildlife Fund for Nature (WWF), Reuters, and Sotheby’s. An accredited Coach and licensed Career Counselor, Helen earned her BA from Smith College and an MA from Webster University. She is currently pursuing her Doctorate in Adult Learning and Leadership at Columbia University. Helen has lived and worked in France, Germany and Switzerland and currently resides in New York, with her delightful husband and a drawer full of chocolate. PASCHA MCALISTER Pascha McAlister currently serves as a Risk Management Advisor for Chevron Shipping. Previous roles with Chevron have included Design Engineer, Projects Engineer, IMPACT Engineer & Lead, Environmental Specialist, and PHA Facilitator. Pascha is a 2007 graduate from Cal Maritime, where she was a student-athlete and served as Corps Commander. Her areas of expertise include Environmental Engineering,

Pascha is Past President of the California State University Maritime Academy Alumni Association and volunteers with EngineerGirl and Chevron’s STEMZone program. LEIGH RINAS Leigh Rinas currently holds a 2nd Mate Unlimited Tonnage license, sailing 3rd Mate for Crowley Maritime CPS Tankers. After graduating from Texas A&M University in 2016 with a degree in Maritime Transportation and minor in Maritime Administration, Leigh joined the M/T Evergreen State. She sailed in Alaska under the Tesoro charter for about the first two years of her career, and is now sailing under the MSC Charter up and down the Pacific Coast. As member of WISTA’s Houston Chapter since 2017, Leigh is a avid supporter of strengthening the women in this industry and assisting those just joining. In her spare time, Leigh is an avid traveler, loves to read, cook and spend time with her family. CAITLIN N. SAUSE Caitlin Sause joined Sause Bros. in 2015 as the Vice President of Government and Public Affairs. Previously she served as the Director of Government and Public Affairs at Vigor Industrial where she worked on projects for the Department of Defense, the USCG, and the US Navy. Additionally, she represented Vigor before state and federal legislatures on multiple issues including the recapitalization of the North Pacific Fishing Fleet, the Jones Act, and workforce development. Her experience extends beyond the maritime industry to natural resources, transportation, manufacturing, and environmental policy. Ms. Sause holds both a B.A. and an M.A. in Political Science. In 2004, she received the National Collegiate Community Service Woman of the Year award for her work with inner city youth in Nashville and a project to increase voter registration. Ms. Sause is engaged extensively in civic and community organizations.

ROCHELLE SHERLOCK Rochelle Sherlock, CEO, Potentiate LLC, a boutique consulting firm specializing in board and leadership effectiveness; and Executive vice-president for Centerstone Executive Search and Leadership. Rochelle advises boards of directors and chief executive officers in all aspects of leadership assessment, integration and long-term organization development. She partners with senior leadership teams to create vibrant organizational cultures, build cohesive leadership teams, promote organizational health, and develop core capabilities enabling rapid growth and potentiating organizational effectiveness. Rochelle works with public and private companies across the consumer and service spectrum. She is passionate about making a difference in her community and has been involved in numerous community-wide initiatives designed to promote vibrant, healthy communities. She is a co-founder, and current chair of the Solano Commission for Women and Girls, an advisory body to the Solano County Board of Supervisors. Rochelle is completing her doctorate in organization and human development at The George Washington University, focused on executive leadership, executive assessment, and organizational culture and change with an emphasis on leadership and organization growth. Rochelle has a Master of Arts in Organization Development from Sonoma State University and an undergraduate degree in sociology from California State University, Stanislaus. ELIZABETH SIMENSTAD Elizabeth Simenstad is a deck hand-engineer at BayDelta Maritime in San Francisco Bay. She holds a 1600-ton master’s license and aspires to become a captain. She entered the maritime industry after college in 2007 as a ship agent for Transmarine Navigation Corporation. After two rewarding and very busy years as an agent, she decided to pursue a career offshore, and went to work on ocean tugs for Foss Maritime as a deck hand/cadet with the Pacific Maritime Institute in Seattle, towing cargo barges to remote ports in Alaska. By attending PMI’s Workboat
Academy, she obtained her 1600 ton near coastal mate’s license and went to work as second mate with Crowley Maritime. She upgraded her license to 1600-ton master and returned to Alaska to work for Crowley as chief mate in their Valdez tanker escort fleet. At the end of two years in Valdez, she secured a position as deck hand with BayDelta Maritime in San Francisco, where she currently works. Elizabeth is also the founder of Sea Sisters, a nonprofit which seeks to support women in the maritime industry. Find them on the web at www.seasisters.org. IAN WALLACE Ian Wallace, PhD is a licensed psychologist providing mental health services to Cal Maritime students since 2013. On campus Dr. Wallace leads the CSU Middle Leadership Academy project entitled Advancing Gender Equity as well as chairs the diversity-focused Unity Council. He previously worked in various mental health settings providing counseling services as well as at colleges and universities as an educator. Dr. Wallace holds a doctoral degree in Counseling Psychology from Virginia Commonwealth University, an M.A. in Clinical Psychology from Pepperdine University, and a B.A. in Psychology from The College of New Jersey. He is originally from New Jersey and currently resides in the Bay Area with his partner and two children. SERENA WEBBER-BEY Serena WebberBey has earned her USCG licensed Chief Engineer, Steam & Diesel Unlimited. She has been sailing with the Marine Engineers Benficial Association since her graduation from SUNY Maritime in 2004, where she earned a Third Assitant Engineers license as well as a Bachelor of Engineering, Mechanical. Sailing off the board with the union has allowed her the opportunity to sail up to and including First Assistant Engineer on vessels both steam and diesel, Port Engineer ashore and currently as Chief Engineer on the Cape Henry.
