Head Coach • Fourth Season • Pacific, 1997

ntering his fourth season as the head coach of the Cal Poly women’s volleyball program, Sam Crosson has directed 21 victories over the past two years, including 10 during Big West Conference play. Highlighting the 2014 campaign, Crosson led the Mustangs to nine wins – six inside the Mott Athletics Center – with a young, talented roster that included seven freshman from a recruiting class that was ranked 23rd nationally by PrepVolleyball.com entering the season. Cal Poly finished third among all conference teams in 2014 with 915 digs and fifth overall with 761 kills. Prior to accepting Cal Poly’s head coaching position on Jan. 20, 2012, Crosson was an assistant coach for two years

years at California where he was charged with video and statistical analysis, designing offensive and defensive systems and serving as the point person for the development of the program’s setters and middle blockers. In 2010, Crosson assisted the Golden Bears to a program-record 30 victories, a Pac-10 Conference title and a national runner-up NCAA Tournament showing. A year later, Crosson helped direct Cal to a 26-7 record and another NCAA Tournament appearance. As the top assistant at Saint Mary’s (2005-09), Crosson was the progr-

am’s recruiting coordinator, in addition to planning and executing training sessions and coordinating the offense. With Crosson, Saint Mary’s achieved a 20-8 mark and qualified for the NCAA Tournament in 2008 before finishing 23-5, capturing the program’s first West Coast Conference title and reaching the NCAA Tournament second round in his final season of 2009. Crosson served for five seasons as the top men’s assistant coach at his alma mater, Pacific. With the Tigers, Crosson was responsible for recruitrecruiting, player development and academic

support. One of the top attackers in program history during his playing career at Pacific (1994-97), Crosson still ranks third all-time in aces (86), fifth in digs (689) and seventh in kills (948). Crosson graduated from Pacific in 1997 with a bachelor’s degree in sports sciences. He then earned his master’s in sports sciences from Pacific in 2005. As a professional, Crosson played one season for Herentals Volleyball Club in Belgium. A native of Santa Cruz, Crosson and his wife, Courtney Miller, have two daughters, Makenna and Logan.

Walters enjoyed her top collegiate campaign as a sophomore in 2005 as her conference-leading 516 digs – the third highest single season total in Santa Clara history – helped propel the Broncos to aprogram-record 27 victories, a West Coast championship, a berth into the NCAA Tournament national semifinals and a final

No. 4 ranking in the AVCA Coaches Top 25 Poll. With Walters in the lineup, Santa Clara posted an 84-34 overall record, a 41-15 combined West Coast mark and failed to finish lower than third in the conference standings during her four seasons. Walters appeared in 421 of a possible 428 sets during her career. A native of Los Gatos, Calif., Walters earned an accounting degree from Santa Clara.

helped guide the Hornets to a 15-win season, including a 10-3 mark at home. In addition to his indoor coaching success, Borchin has also been the co-head coach of the Sacramento State Sand Volleyball program for the past three seasons. Prior to his coaching

career with Sacramento State, Borchin played for the Hornets for two seasons and transferred to Pacific where he played in 86 career matches from 2008-10. A native of Roseville, Calif., Borchin graduated from Pacific in 2010 with a degree in sports sciences.
