ONLINE EDUCATIONAL LEADERSHIP TRACKS

C

alifornia University of Pennsylvania’s Administrative Program for Principals and Superintendent Letter of Eligibility programs are ideal for working professionals who wish to make a difference in education. They are both part-time, online programs that provide a personalized approach in meeting your needs, whether you are seeking a principal’s certificate, a master’s degree in education, superintendent certification or simply a way to enhance your teaching and leadership skills.

Administrative Program for Principals Cal U’s Administrative Program for Principals, NCATE-accredited and approved by the Pennsylvania Department of Education, is a practice-centered, educational requirements for certification as a principal. Cal U offers one program with two options: K-12 Principal Certification-Only (24 credits) and the Master in Education with K-12 Principal Certification (30 credits). At Cal U, the K-12 Principal Certification can be obtained as an integrated part of the master’s degree or as a separate certification-only option for persons who have previously obtained a master’s degree. The K-12 Principal Certification and Master’s Degree program require the same core courses, but two additional courses (6 credits) are required of those candidates pursuing the master’s degree. All coursework can be used to complete continuing education requirements under Act 48.

Superintendent Letter of Eligibility This program offers to those who are already principals an online superintendent certification program that can be completed in three consecutive semesters. Courses are online, PDE-approved and taught by experienced school district administrators. Coursework can be used to complete continuing education requirements under Act 45/PIL.

CURRICULUM Administrative students are grouped into cohort groups, whose members share information and experiences and receive support from faculty and experienced school leaders. Classes are conducted online with field experiences and internships taking place at the student’s school site. Out of state students are welcome and encouraged to apply, however, they are required to contact their State Department of Education regarding their state's certification requirements and reciprocity agreements.
