This year, in Kids-N-Action, five-year-olds through fourth graders will: • Choose one of 7 electives to do all year (see inside for details!); • Memorize James chapter 5, and put its teaching into action through fun activities;
2013-2014 Special Events Crazy Hat Night (October 23): Do you have a fun or crazy hat you wouldn’t normally wear? This night is for you! (If you don’t have a favorite hat, see how creative you can be and make one!)
Gingerbread Nativity Night (December 18): Making gingerbread nativity scenes has become our traditional family Christmas celebration.
• Compile a James Journal scrapbook from weekly lessons learned in James chapter 5!
Crazy Hair Night (February 5): This is your night to let your inner hairdresser shine! Make your hair as crazy as possible ... please no open flames.
Lil’ KIDS-N-ACTION: Three and four-year-olds can join us in room 250. Lil’Kids-N-Action* will be learning portions of James chapter 5, as they hear stories from the Bible of people who demonstrated faith in action! * Please note that parents of children birth through first grade must remain in the building during Kids N Action.

Role Model Night (November 20): Guest speakers share their testimonies and a special activity with the children in each elective.
• Be able to identify 23 situations where the church in the book of Acts put their faith into action by obeying God;
Our desire in KIDS-N-ACTION is that children understand what God says in the Bible, believe it, and obey it in their daily lives. KIDS-N-ACTION is designed to foster social interaction through chosen electives, while facilitating spiritual growth in learning from the book of James how to “put your faith into action.” According to the Bible, it’s not enough to know what God wants – you have to DO it too.

ELEMENTARY REGISTRATION FEE: There is a registration fee of $10/child or a maximum of $25/family (this covers your t-shirt and all materials). Scholarships available!

super Sports | Cy Jourdan Do you like games, sports, relays and teamwork? Then consider the sports elective, where children will build their cooperation and athletic skills through physical activity. Rules and concepts will be taught for several common sports including: soccer, touch football and basketball. amazing art | Jane Zomerlei It is our desire to encourage and develop creativity in our children, while at the same time bringing glory to God through the creative gifts He has given to them. Each week children will have the opportunity to experiment with watercolors, pastels, acrylics, inks, etc. We will complete several projects that will be displayed around the church. Stitches (2nd-4th Grade) | Carrie Kooistra Wish you knew how to knit? Enjoy making things out of thread and material? Like to talk to friends while working on projects for others such as scarves, shawls, etc.? Stitches is for you! Several projects will be made for area hospitals and nursing homes. Space is limited. Globe-Trotters (2nd-4th Grade) | Sara Tibbe If you like to travel outside of your backyard and experience different cultures around the world, you are a Globe Trotter! Grab your backpack, binoculars, and Bible and come experience new sights, sounds, and smells from around the world. Globetrotters will discover more about the people and cultures of the world, and we’ll see how God intends for us to “declare his glory among the nations” (Psalm 96:3). Special visits from local and global missionaries, as well as crafts, projects and activities will be part of the experience for Globe Trotters! Space is limited.
Karate Kids | Andy Mohr Learn Karate basics from a Christian perspective, emphasizing concern for others and reliance upon Christ for strength instead of selfsufficiency. Instructor Andy Mohr is a 3rd degree blackbelt. Activities involve learning karate basics, proper stretching, concentration on body movement and hand-eye coordination exercises. This elective will not involve contact--sparing. Uniforms will cost approx. $35; more details will be provided after registration (partial scholarships available). Space is limited.
Lil‘ Kids-N-Action Three and four year olds (by December 1, 2013) can join us for Lil’ Kids-N-Action! (Lil’ Kids-N-Action is only for the children of volunteers or those involved in a Calvary-led ministry.) Right along with the big kids, we will be learning portions of James chapter 5 and talking about how God wants us to act in everyday situations
kid vs. wild | Rodney Velting Come learn wilderness survival and nature skills, while exploring what it means to care for God’s creation and to be resourceful with what you have.
Here are some fun facts about what goes on during Lil’ Kids-NAction:
Steppin’ uP! (2nd-4th Grade Girls) | Variety of Teachers Love to dance? Then this class is for you! Come learn basic dance technique while discovering how dance can be used to worship and bring glory to God. We will be focused on developing proper body alignment, flexibility, balance and coordination. This class is for everyone, including beginners.
• The lessons will be repeated for two weeks. The first week will be the story taken directly out of the Bible. The second week, we will use a life application story, which reinforces the lesson, allowing the children to apply it to their own lives.

• Each week we will play, sing, read, and learn as the gospel is brought to life.
• Interactive activities and crafts, aligning with the theme of the lesson, will be enjoyed each week. • The children will work on memorizing small sections of scripture, reminding them of how special they are to the Lord. • We will have a special focus on in-class service projects, such as making Christmas ornaments for our shut-in ministry and decorating lunch bags for the Kids Food Baskets. Please join us each week as our preschoolers discover and live in the Word!

Nursery (birth to two-year-olds) is available only to those children whose parents are either serving on Wednesday night or are participating in an adult Wednesday night program.
