Wednesday Morning

Older Adults Bible Study Ministry Coordinators: Mike & Mariann Looney (mlooney@calvarygr.org)

Older adults ages 55+ from Calvary Church and around West Michigan meet every Wednesday, September through May, from 9:30-11:00am in Calvary’s Chapel for a time of fellowship and Bible study. Our teachers, Bruce Huseby and Aaron Bolduc, spend time each morning teaching an uplifting and challenging lesson from the Word of God. Our time together begins at 9:30 for a time of fellowship and refreshment moving into inspirational singing, prayer and sharing. Interaction between attendees and teachers make for an interesting, insightful and thought-provoking learning experience. No matter where you may be in your personal walk with Christ, you can benefit from this ongoing study of God’s Word. For more information, contact the Calvary Church Senior Adults Ministry at ext. 3672.

Confident Caregivers Ministry Coordinators: Jack & Judy Morgan (jdonmorgan@comcast.net)

Caring for a loved one during a time of illness can be physically exhausting and lonely, as well as emotionally draining. Yet day after day, caregivers show their love and kindness by setting aside their own needs to serve their spouse, friend or other family member. Confident Caregivers provides support for those filling the roll of full or part-time caregiver in their home, special needs community, or assisted living facility. Each meeting allows caregivers at any stage in life to spend time with others who share their unique experience of providing care for those unable to care for themselves. During this time of fellowship and support, Confident Caregivers team members offer encouragement, advice and prayer. Confident Caregivers gatherings are held at 6:30pm on the third Tuesday during the months of September, November, January, March, and May each year. Each meeting features an interesting speaker designed to entertain and equip attendees around a verity of topics. For more information, please contact the Senior Adults Ministry at ext. 3672.

GriefShare Workshops Ministry Coordinators: Bob and Anne Vandekieft (bvdkieft@gmail.com) You don’t have to go through the grieving process alone. GriefShare is a ministry providing a friendly, caring group of people who will walk alongside you through one of life’s most difficult experiences. GriefShare seminars and support groups here at Calvary are led by people who understand what you are going through and want to help. You’ll gain access to valuable GriefShare resources to help you recover from your loss and take steps to rebuild your life. Two 13-week workshops are held, one in the spring and one in the fall. Workshops are designed specifically to give you the opportunity to interact with others who have experienced a recent loss. For more information, please contact the Calvary Church Senior Adults Ministry ext. 3672.

Chera Ministry Coordinator: Patsy Clark (patsyclark54@att.net)

God has promised, “Never will I leave you, never will I forsake you.”

Chera (pronounced Ke-Ra) is the Greek word for “widowed” or “bereft.” Our mission is to reach out to those who have lost a spouse and offer the comfort which comes from God. Healing after the death of a spouse is a long-term process. It has been suggested that it can take up to two years to give ourselves time to mourn and grieve. Chera exists to offer that long-term, ongoing support. Our members contact the newly-widowed to provide support by listening and offering friendship individually as well as meeting in small groups. Twice a year, in the spring and the fall, Chera members are the guests of the Elders and Deacons to share a brunch and fellowship. We invite you to join us. The Chera Ministry is why we can say, with confidence, “The Lord is my Helper; I will not be afraid” (Hebrews 13:5b-6).

Ol’ Fashioned Hymn Sing Ministry Coordinator: Maury Lehmann

Come join us for a time of fun, fellowship and singing lead by Maury Lehman. The hymn sing is held quarterly in the Chapel immediately following the Sunday evening service. Information including special guests and dates can be found in the OASIS newsletter, Calvary Life magazine or by calling the Senior Adult Ministry Office at ext. 3672.

Trips are scheduled in the spring and the fall each year. They provide a wonderful time of fun and fellowship. Watch the eNews, Calvary Life, and the OASIS newsletter for more information.
