Sustainability Policy: Visit Belfast
Challenge: In response to the economic impact of the pandemic, Visit Belfast launched a three-year recovery plan called the ‘Rebuilding City Tourism 2021-24’ strategy, and they needed a sustainability policy that outlined what their new commitments were towards bringing back tourism in a thoughtful way, how their actions aligned to the UN SDGs, and how they would oversee management and delivery of those commitments.
Solution: Working with the VB audit committee and Visit Belfast Board, Visit Belfast created a sustainability policy and had it signed by the Chief Executive on behalf of the organisation, SMT and executive.
The policy is linked across all Visit Belfast websites, including Visitbelfast.com (leisure site), Visitbelfastpartners.com (B2B, sponsors and gov site), MeetBelfast.com (CVB site), showing how all aspects of their business are united behind the commitments stated in the policy.
