In the AIR CUBE we created a building that interacts directly with the surrounding nature, gives students and the faculty a possibility to interact and transform spaces to their needs.

The purpose of this design is to be functioning as a filter of air, that corresponds to the local conditions by taking advantage of the wind, natural light, and connections to the site created by the visuals to the outside throughout the building.

EN IG M A / R ES P O N S E Within the research of the bodies of water in Puerto Rico revealed that 50% of the population is not connected to the services the Aqueduct and Sewer Authority. > 3% belongs to the town of San Juan, where 97% of them living in the proximity of the Caño Martín Peña, most polluted body of water on the island. > The creation of the Water Observatory for the Caño Martin Peña will also facilitate the investigation of polluted waters and its solution, involving in a its program spaces for the community, research and the union of both through nature.

P R OGR A M / Vo l u me & Vi e w s Water Observatory is conceptualized and designed in the interest of hybridize the traditional investigation laboratory and the archetypical community center. Bringing into each one of the spaces a special view to the surrounding nature. To fulfill this idea, the program was developed based on the needs of the users: Scientists and Habitants of the nearby communities, and how they finally connect at the same space. For the first level is located the open cafeteria and Gallery, followed in the second story the Auditorium and the Library and Assembly Hall for the community Workshop. For the next two levels will be located the controlled Labs.

SERVICES / Users & Program The users of the project were identified as women aged 18 to 40 years who were single and unemployed mothers or which have a low economic profile. These will be able to come from the surrounding neighborhoods: 37, Santa Rita, Ubarri, Rio Piedras Antiguo, Capetillo and Buen Consejo. Therefore it is recognized that the same could walk.

Will be offered four professional services: psychological, social, health and legal. For the same it is estimated that each service will take about 30 minutes per person. This will allow every day to attend 80 persons, from Monday to Friday, during the hours of 9am - 7pm, while the will be accommodated a total of 24 during the saturday with the service offered from 9am - 1pm.

MIXED USE Calle LoĂ­za is known by the critical way it has grown through all the years. In the blend of this street comprehend a heterogeneity in the converse typologies and their spaces. In this Multifamiliar building we desired to enforce the beauty of its complexity, by creating open spaces in order to involve the community nearby. Open Sky Cinema, local shops and restaurants consolidate the ground and underground level to provide an inclusive program for the inhabitants of Calle LoĂ­za.

The community of Miramar is located in Santurce. This neighborhood is surrounded by historic buildings, hotels and multifamiliar buildings, The program of this Community Hall embraces and enriches their behavior. New spaces like public electronic library, art classrooms, recreational pool and yoga spaces, are part of the proposal, to diversify and revitalise Miramar’s urban program.
