Have you ever convinced yourself that a fresh cream-filled Kitchener Bun at 7AM is always a good idea? Well, you can blame it on the Banana Boogie. This funky multi awardwinning bakery has expanded down into the South West of Adelaide on Hawson Avenue, North Plympton (and us locals are VERY happy about it).
Becoming the talk of the town after grabbing second prize for their vanilla slice at the National “Great Australian Vanilla Slice Triumph” competition, this saw the original Belair Banana Boogie Bakery sell over 35,000 slices in just one year (yep, they kept count!). Space became a squeeze with people dancing in from all corners to get their hands on a slice – and the awards did not stop there!
From sweets to savoury, Banana Boogie bake everything with a couple extra sprinkles of love.
With its success of gourmet goods, the dynamic husband and wife owners, Jason and Kelly, put the question out to their 4.5K+ social media followers asking where to set up Banana Boogie 2.0 after 5 years in the game. Coming to a decision, it was time to hit the pavement and venture down into the burbs to share their pastry goodness with more of us Adelaideans.
Opening their freshly painted North Plympton front doors in late April 2021, if you have had the pleasure of a sidestep inside, you will have been overwhelmed in what a bakery lovers dreams are made of. From their delicious traditional steak and mushroom pie to a freshly made sourdough caramelised onion, brie, walnut and lettuce roll – the choices are vast! The sweet selections will have your eyes two sizes bigger than your stomach and a game of rock, paper, scissors will be the decider between the wagon wheel donut or coffee and walnut slice. A wide range of vegan and vegetarian options are also up for order.
We are big fans of this new local and we highly recommend slipping on your blue suede shoes for a boogie down in North Plympton.
