5 Camping Tools the Boy Scouts Use The Boy Scouts are known for being well prepared which makes them a great resource to use when planning your own camping trip. If you were to pack every item that the Boy Scouts do for their camping trips when you take yours, you will be very well prepared to deal with any potential issue you may encounter while camping. Here are five items scout gear items the Boy Scouts use that you should add to your list of camping supplies. Canteen Bringing a canteen with you on your camping trip will ensure that you always have fresh water at all times. If you are someone who enjoys going for an afternoon hike while camping, a canteen is an absolute must have accessory. With a canteen in your backpack, you will have a day’s supply of water you can drink which could end up saving your life if you were to get lost while on your hiking trip. Pocket Knife The pocket knife is a Boy Scout staple and a must have for any camper. Since you never know when you will need a small tool while in the middle of nowhere, it is best if you bring a pocket knife with you on your camping trip. This handy item can be quite beneficial when you are in the woods and do not have access to a tool box but need to cut something or use one of the small screwdrivers or pliers. Compass Another handy item that the Boy Scouts use on a frequent basis is a compass. With a compass in hand, you will always know which direction you are heading and where you have come from. As long as you know how to properly operate a compass, you should never get lost in the wilderness. If you plan on doing some exploring while you are on your camping trip, it is wise to bring a compass with you. It is quite easy to get lost in the woods, especially if it is a heavily wooded area full of thick trees. However, when you have a compass, you will know exactly which way to travel in order to get back to your campsite. First Aid Kit A first aid kit is a must have camping tool for any camper, Boy Scout or regular camper. With a first aid kit on hand, you will always be prepared to deal with any injuries you may encounter with your camping group. While a first aid kit will not be able to help with any serious injuries, it certainly can help with smaller injuries and bide some time for you to get to a hospital if there is a serious injury. Waterproof Matches

One last camping item the Boy Scouts use on a regular basis is waterproof matches. While it is possible to start a fire with other items, waterproof matches offer a safety net in regards to starting a fire in the worst of weather conditions. When you have waterproof matches on hand, it does not matter how wet or damp the weather is as your matches will always ignite and provide you with the ability to start a campfire. Knowing which camping tools to bring with you can greatly enhance your camping experience. Using the Boy Scouts as a guide is never a bad idea when creating a list of camping accessories you need to bring with you on your trip.
