Salford is situated in the heart of Greater Manchester, just three km from its city centre.

Manchester and Salford are both lively and diverse cities, with people from all backgrounds coming to live and study. The city centres are within walking distance of Peel Park Quarter and can also be accessed easily on public transport.

Salford is home to MediaCityUK, a unique waterfront destination and one of the country’s leading digital and media hubs. The University of Salford is the only university to have a campus at MediaCityUK.

As well as being on the doorstep of Manchester’s shops, nightlife and entertainment, Salford has its own great selection of relaxed local pubs and bars to unwind in.

Greater Manchester is proud to be LGBTQI+ friendly. From Salford University’s support of their LGBTQI+ students to Manchester’s hugely popular Gay Village and its renowned annual Pride Parade Weekend.

There are some fantastic cultural destinations to visit in Greater Manchester, including the Manchester Museum, People’s History Museum, the Museum of Science & Industry, and the Imperial War Museum North. The Salford Museum & Art Gallery and the WorkingClass Movement Library can also be found on the University of Salford campus.

The village is conveniently located with the Frederick Road campus on your doorstep and the main Peel Park campus and its facilities just a 15-minute walk away.

There’s a host of different room types to choose from at a range of prices. We have flats specifically suited to first-year students and others that are more popular with returning residents and postgraduates looking for a more relaxed atmosphere.

The village is particularly popular with nursing and healthcare |students, with the Mary Seacole and Allerton Building on the Frederick Road campus just a short walk away. In addition, both Salford Royal Hospital and Manchester’s city centre hospitals are easily accessible either by foot, car or public transport.

On-site, you’ll have access to a communal kitchen, quiet study spaces, as well as laundry facilities and a free on-site gym, which is exclusively for the use of John Lester & Eddie Colman residents.

Over at the main Peel Park campus, you’ll find the university Clifford Whitworth library, University Support Services, Sports Centre, student store and the lively Students’ Union bar, Atmosphere.

The village is conveniently located just a five-minute walk from Salford Shopping Centre with its supermarkets, retail shops and eateries. Getting around Salford and into Manchester couldn’t be easier. There are plenty of regular and direct buses to Manchester city centre, or you can walk it in 30 minutes. University of Salford students studying at MediaCityUK can take advantage of free travel on the dedicated bus service, which runs past the village and onto Salford Quays.
