First impressions are important. Ensuring that incoming personnel are privy to the information and support they need to hit the ground mission ready upon arrival is a very vital task. A good sponsorship experience eases the transition and reduces culture shock. In addition to the mandated overall sponsorship training on AKO, JSST offers you all of the current local information and best practices you’ll need to be a top notch Sponsor. Definition of Sexual Harassment and Types of Sexual Assault

Definition:

Sexual Harassment is conduct that involves sexual advances, request for sexual favors and deliberate or repeated offensive comments or gestures of a sexual nature. It is so severe or pervasive that a reasonable person would perceive, and the victim perceive, the environment as hostile or offensive.

Types of Sexual Harassment: Quid Pro Quo (This for That)

• Demanding sexual favors in exchange for a promotion, award, or favorable assignment • Disciplining or relieving a subordinate who refuses sexual advances • Threatening a poor job evaluation for refusing sexual advances • Incidents of quid pro quo sexual harassment may also have a harassing effect on third persons

Hostile Environment

• Using derogatory, gender-biased terms • Making comments about body parts • Displaying sexually suggestive pictures (Computer/cellphone screens included) • Unwanted touching
