McCaffery, Margaret “Margie”
1944 ~ 2022
Words cannot express what a shock death is – be it expected or unexpected… Following many years of suffering silently, Margie McCaffery is now at peace. She died in Sturgeon Hospital, leaving many to mourn her loss. She is survived by her daughters, Laura (Scott) Ferguson and their children, Michael, Isabella and Sophia, and Megan McCaffery (Arno Willkomm) and their children, Jasper and Atticus; sister, Mary Ellen JacksonHerman; brothers, Kennedy (Darlene) and Frank (Lori) Duggan; as well as numerous other relatives, too many to mention.
Margie was the second child of Fred and Gladys Duggan of Camrose, Alberta. She grew up riding horses, swimming and singing. After graduating high school, she trained as a nurse at the Edmonton General Hospital. She loved caring for people and nursed in a variety of settings from hospitals, schools, research labs and prisons.
One of her greatest talents was organizing. She was a successful Campaign Manager and Executive Assistant to a City of Edmonton Alderman and a Member of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta. As Leader of Song at St. Joseph’s Basilica, she assisted hundreds of families with organizing their funerals and weddings. She was an exquisite knitter, a top-notch seamstress, world traveler and excelled at most things she tackled. She did all of this while experiencing problems in almost every system of her physical body without complaint. But most of all, she was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. How she LOVED her grandchildren!
Margie was predeceased by her husband, Jim McCaffery; and her sister, Pat Ferguson.
