County prepares for fall session
By Murray Green
Camrose County council set the date for the annual organizational meeting for October 25 beginning at 9:30 a.m. and the start time for the regular meeting of council to be amended to 10:30 a.m.
At that time the reeve, deputy reeve and committee appointments for the coming year will be solidified.
Camrose County approved the cancellation of the November 8 regular council meeting so councillors can attend the Rural Municipalities of Alberta fall convention November 7 to 10.
Councillor Carlene Wetthuhn moved that Camrose County council create a new committee of council, the Battle River Watershed Alliance (BRWA) Land and Water Advisory committee and that councillor Doug Lyseng be appointed to that committee until the organizational meeting.
Councillor Don Simpson moved that the manager of Planning and Development, or designate, be appointed as the designated contact person and staff representative to that committee.
Councillor Jordon Banack moved that Camrose County support the application for an Alberta Community Partnership grant application in support of the Battle River Watershed Alliance Land and Water Advisory committee.
During the Battle River Watershed Alliance presentation to council last spring, the group spoke about the plans to create a Land and Water Advisory Committee. This group will discuss how municipal statutory plans and land use bylaws can support local and regional land and water management, and opportunities to enhance synergies between municipal and watershed management planning processes.
