Our membership program for history related institutions gives you easy access to an audience already passionately interested in your mandate. Your organization can promote regular programs, as well as special events and offers. The flexibility allows you the freedom to craft your promotional campaign in a way that will get you results.

Member organizations will have password-protected access to canadashistory.ca, which will allow you to edit your business information, upload logos and pictures, add links to your social media feeds, and post unlimited numbers of events, admission offers, discounts, job postings, and internship opportunities.

With our online and social media audience, we can help you broadcast your message to a wide audience on very short notice, or plan a long-term promotional campaign. Our online portal features an events calendar, job board, history-themed travel offers, book reviews, plus so much more!

At over 90 years old, Canada’s History magazine is second only to Macleans as the longest-published magazine in Canada. Canada’s History members are dedicated history enthusiasts. Canada’s HIstory Awards Canada’s History Awards are this country’s top history honours recognizing achievement among historians, educators, writers, and community leaders. The awards event garners national media attention with an estimated audience reach of four million. The 15 awards presented at Rideau Hall include:

• The Governor General’s Awards for Excellence in Teaching Canadian History • The Pierre Berton Award for popular history • The Begbie Society’s History Contest • The Canadian Historical Assocation’s Sir John A. Macdonald Prize • The Historica-Dominion Institute’s Great Questions Essay Competition • Kids’ Illustrated History Challenge • CMA’s History Alive! Award for museum programming

Other programs

Books and Special-Issues Kayak: Canada’s History for Kids Our award-winning magazine aimed at children ages 7 – 12 tells the story of Canada’s history in an interesting and entertaining fashion that children can understand and relate to. With illustrated feature stories, and comics, plus games, jokes, and puzzles, Kayak magazine is popular with parents and teachers alike.

Canada’s History produced the 2009 Canadian best-seller 100 Photos that Changed Canada. Fall 2011 will see the release of our follow-up title 100 Days that Changed Canada. We also release special-interest editions of Canada’s History magazine on a regular basis. From “Quebec at 400” to “100 Years of Flight” to “Top 10 Historic Sites,” these books and specialissues garner additional media exposure, which results in increased website traffic, benefitting your organization when your ad is featured on our site.

Heritage Fairs This cross-Canada program encourages students to use the medium of their choice to tell stories about Canadian history and to present the results of their research at a public exhibition. Certificates and awards provide valuable recognition and incentive for their efforts.
