TERMS AND CONDITIONS TERMS The terms of the sale are cash or cheque. Settlement to be made immediately after completion of the sale, payable at par to Bow Slope Shipping Association. The right of property shall not pass until after settlement is made. All settlements must be made with the clerk before any cattle will be released. BIDDING Each animal will be sold to the highest bidder. No by-bidding will be permitted. DISPUTES Bidding will be reopened between the parties involved in the dispute. If no further bid is made, the buyer will be the person from whom the auctioneer accepted the last bid. The auctioneer's decision on all disputes will be final. ANNOUNCEMENTS All announcements made from the auction block will take precedence over the printed matter in the catalogue. Buyers are therefore cautioned to pay attention to such disclosures. CERTIFICATE OF REGISTRATION Each animal will carry papers issued by the Canadian Limousin Association. A certificate of registry duly transferred will be furnished to the buyer for each animal after payment has been made. HEALTH All animals in the sale have met all necessary health requirements. LIABILITIES All persons attend the sale at their own risk and the seller and sale manager assume no liability, legal or otherwise, for any accidents that occur. BREEDER'S GUARANTEE The following extracts from the rules and regulations governing this sale be of special interest to those purchasing breeding stock. "If in the opinion of the buyer an animal proves to be a nonbreeder, he must notify Bow Slope Shipping Assoc. within two months after the date of the sale. When an animal is proven by a veterinarian to be a non-breeder, the contributor agrees to refund the purchase price in full providing the bull is returned to the contributor in good physical condition, or to supply the purchaser with an animal of approximately equal age, quality and breeding. In either case, the non-breeding animal is to be returned to the contributor, and the purchaser is responsible for all transportation and veterinary charges incurred. The contributor is not responsible for damage caused by foreign bodies, nor the sickness not apparent at the time of the sale.” "It is to be clearly understood that Bow Slope Shipping Association is acting only as a medium between buyer and seller and is not in any way responsible for any failure on the part of either party to live up to his obligations.”

Jaap and Carla de Jager We are looking forward to 2018 and our 8th annual Bull Sale with our friends from Andrew Ranches. This year, for the first time we will be offering some black bulls in our sale. We have traditionally always raised red limos, but there has been requests for black animals, so we have incorporated them into the breeding program. Hopefully we have a bull that will suit your breeding needs. Although 2017 was so dry and hot, the cattle seemed to do well and come through it in good shape. The bulls have grown nicely and their temperament is excellent, they are easy to be around. All the bulls have been semen tested by the vet, and are ready to go to work in your breeding program. For the second year in a row, we have sold bred heifers in the fall, this years group went to 3 local buyers , Laughlin’s a repeat buyer from the first year and local Rolling Hills farmers. We will be selling bred heifers in the fall of 2018– so if you are looking-let us know. The ALA is once again promoting the Limousin breed by d o i n g t h e b u l l b u y e r s d r a w a g a i n t h i s y e a r. Congratulations to Greg and Linnea Andrew who bought a registered bull from our herd and won $250.00 in the draw at the field day in 2017. Information on the draw can be found in this catalogue. Welcome to our 2018 Sale! While our hopes for a return to health are always at the back of our minds, we are very proud to offer our bulls for your evaluation. We are very pleased by the way they have been developing. We certainly appreciate your support in the past and hope to continue to supply bulls that will bring your program forward. As before, our first goal with our purebred herd is to supply bulls in order to improve our commercial cattle. In order to do this and fairly offer quality bulls to all - we will be offering our bulls into the sale ring in pairs. The winning bidder will have his choice of bulls. The runner up will have the option of the other bull at the same money. Should he decline, that bull will come back for the ranch’s use. In this way, we are offering the pick of our pen and still covering the needs of our own commercial herd. Again this year, we invested in ultra-sounding our yearling purebred cattle. With Limousin being the “Carcass Breed” we think over time we can select female lines with not only superior type and performance, but also deliver at the packing plant. While this data collection is still at the beginning, this year’s information will still point out superior individuals amongst the offering. RICHMOND ADMIRAL SRD 193A We selected this powerful Xceller son from the renown Richmond Ranch herd in 2015. Not only did he come to the top of the pen due to his sound design and great muscle expression, his mother’s lineage went back to the Mash Accolade - one of the sire lines to combine great females with true Limousin type. To our dismay, we had to pull this young sire mid-breeding season due to a penile infection. The Richmonds generously offered the use of their noted herdsire Wulfs Yellow Jacket to finish the breeding duties that year. WULFS YELLOW JACKET

In July our ranch was offered the opportunity to supply the demonstration animals to Ag In Motion Western Canada’s newest “Hands-on” trade fair. There, the cattle handling equipment exhibitors and fair-goers were very complementary towards our bulls - their quality and disposition. Curt Pate - NCBA stockmanship guru - who put on the cattle handling demo remarked: “When cattle handle like this you can really capitalize on the efficiency that the Limousin breed offers”.
Along with the many successes this year, there have been some challenges to say the least. Greg suffered an unfortunate accident in late October and broke his neck. He has been in a halo for the better part of twelve weeks. Our son Ted who is working for NET Ministries in Ireland (a Catholic Youth Missionary Organization) was diagnosed in early December with Ewing’s Sarcoma. As their recovery continues, we have a huge thank you to Eric Boon and Lorne Bodell who helped us clip and picture our bulls. Our friend, Anne Burgess, repositioned and edited our photos. While it was a learning experience to work with these professional purebred stockpeople, we cannot thank them enough for their offer of their time and talent to our program.
As Greg and Ted recover, we have to acknowledge that there is simply not enough space in this booklet to properly thank all who have supported us through this fall’s journey. The overwhelming outpouring of support from family, friends and our communities is simply humbling. “May God Bless you as you have us”.
