Impala Canada celebrating milestones and release of “This is Mining” video

In July, CEO Tim Hill recorded a special end of year message for employees. “Looking back over the past year, we accomplished a great deal,” Hill said in his two-minute video.

“We experienced strong safety performance across the operation, and a regional mine rescue win. We achieved our mine expansion plans. We awarded our first 11 Impala Canada Paving the Way educational scholarships. We launched our Living our Values Award and celebrated the well-deserving winners. We diverted thousands of water bottles from landfill by installing new water refill stations around LDI, and our employees raised more than $50,000 for community organizations during the Christmas holidays.”

Hill said none of the achievements would’ve been possible without all of the valued employees and contractors who keep the Lac Des Iles mine running all year. In the video, he looks ahead to the new year and some goals he has set out for the entire Impala Canada team to achieve.

“Together we will continue to achieve our goals and create a better future for our families and community.”

The company also produced an impressive video called: This is Mining, in partnership with Confederation College as part of a 3-year $120,000 investment by Impala Canada, announced in 2022. This unique and important partnership will help the College increase awareness, engagement and enrolment in skilled trades training and the video is just the first of many things to come.

Set to music and using drone footage and interviews, the video takes you from the College’s campus to the LDI site, showcasing many mining career opportunities and a few familiar faces along the way.
