Jodie Cunningham is a highly creative arts leader, visual artist and educator with extensive experience in developing and delivering innovative exhibitions, art installations and public programs in museums, galleries and art contexts. She also has an extensive background in visual art and design education and a commitment to mentoring developing artists and fostering collaboration. Cunningham advocates for the power of creativity, the arts and cultural activity to provide hope to our communities, strengthen our local and national cultural identities, and facilitate social change. She lives in a hot pink house and, when not attempting to transform society though the arts, she makes art works exploring the themes of colour, pattern, symbolism and the emotional resonance of objects in her studio at m16artspace. She delights in making the world more colourful, parenting her gorgeous children and managing her menagerie of pets.

I love my collection of vintage vases on my windowsill at work as they embrace the joy of colour, light and mid-century design. I’m fascinated with how vintage objects can be so emotionally potent, can trigger memories and open up conversation.

The epitome of beautiful contemporary design, designed by the late Robert Foster of FINK, a gift from a dear friend in my favourite colour and an exemplar of the amazing innovation and skill of Canberra makers.

MY ART STUDIO

My art studio at m16artspace, a place full of delicious art supplies and creative possibilities, where I can escape into ideas, make my own art and mentor local emerging artists.

CANBERRA WILDFLOWERS ON MT AINSLIE

Walking in the bush in on Ngunnawal land in Canberra is so enriching. I love being on Mt Ainslie, discovering the little wildfl ower treasures and breathing in Canberra’s fresh air.

THE GOODRADIGBEE RIVER

A special place for my family where we enjoy long treks into the wilderness, campfi res, stars, and I occasionally catch a trout whilst attempting to fl yfi sh.
