After undertaking the three day Mac Server training at Cancom I am able to administer and maintain the system, which is easy, with minimal hassle.� Jack Cornish, Head of IT Bishop Justus School were running Cubase on PC systems, finding they were constantly facing technical issues. Students & teachers wanted a more stable environment to reduce system headaches, which was the main driver behind the Windows and Mac amalgamation. The school also wanted to give their students experience with industry standard tools hence the decision to move to Logic.
We networked a Mac Suite consisting of 25 machines running Leopard, Logic and Microsoft Office, plus a full studio suite consisting of mixing desks, Apple Cinema displays and Mac Pros running Leopard and Logic Studio. A new Apple Xserve was installed with server and clients integrated into the schools active directory environment, which allows Mac clients to be fully managed with strict policy controls, ensuring a consistent user experience. An Apple server was installed to provide students with Applenative file storage alongside their existing PC network. A back-up agent was installed on a Mac server to store data for existing back-up systems negating need for additional solutions.

Contract Support Cancom offer four levels of contract support; basic, standard, premium, and premium plus. Once you’ve chosen which level of support that’s right for you, simply tell us how many work stations you would like cover for. Our support options offer a managed support service with either same or next business day response times (4 and 8-hour retrospectively). Please see our support matrix for more details. Pay as you go Support (non contract) Our pay as you go support service is primarily targeted at prosumers and small businesses who have smaller demands in supporting their IT equipment, but still wish to take advantage of our support services. For remote support we simply charge an hourly rate which enables a qualified Apple Certified Engineer to remotely connect to your workstation anywhere in the world (providing you have an xDSL connection or higher). Pay as you go support time can be bought in 1-hour blocks and is valid for 12 months from purchase date. Alternatively, if you have a hardware fault and would prefer to have an engineer attend your site, providing you are within our service region*, we will have an engineer with you on the next business day. *Postcode check required.

John Wiley & Sons produce books, journals, and encyclopedias, in print and electronically, as well as online products and services, training materials, and educational materials for undergraduate, graduate, and continuing education students. For over 200 years, Wiley has grown and evolved, taking pride in its ability to meet the changing needs of its customers. The company’s current migration to the digital world is the latest example of this kind of transformation. Under the Wiley umbrella, includes the For Dummies series, Wiley InterScience, Webster’s New World dictionaries and many more titles.
Cancom completely upgraded old publishing systems from aging G4 and G5 Xserves, which were completely segregated from the rest of the network, right down to having their own separate authentication domain. Our consultants designed and implemented a new Dual Directory system integrating brand new state of the art Xserves into their existing Active Directory infrastructure, giving employees the benefit of single sign on whether they use a Mac or a PC. During this upgrade process we introduced Font Management in the form of Extensis Universal Type Server and upgrades to their Quark publishing system which now leverages Quark Licensing Server, this all works closely with Adobe Creative Suite. Cancom worked closely with John Wiley & Sons help desk team and business leaders to ensure their engineers were able to roll out the new deployment of MacBook Pro, Mac Pro and iMacs.
