The Core Complex is a series of residential and commercial units combined to enhance the downtown community with a health and fitness centered aes- thetic. Our building was renovated using the inspiration of young adults as- piring to enhance their professional health and fitness aspirations. Centered in the social commute of downtown San Diego (located on the corner of 7th Ave. and J Street), The Core Complex offers versatile design elements that comply with ADA and CBC codes including recycled and sustainable materi- als. Our commercial space, To The Core, functions as a juice bar providing healthy meal alternatives in collaboration with the lifestyle of the complex’s inhabitants. Public amenities include not only our juice bar but also Core Fit- ness, an invigorating gym complete with sauna. Private amenities offer a semi-open two-lane track as well as a natural lit yoga room. Inspiring natural elements; Earth, Wind, Fire, and Water were driving forces in creating a space that evokes movement, energy, balance, and centeredness. Natural materials that are both recycled and sustainable were a priority in each area of the space. Lush greens, neutrals and pops of color added to our goal of representing each of the natural elements.
