1.1 AT HOME at the Musée de l’Homme of Paris

AT HOME takes root in the heart of the 16-meter high reception hall of the Human Museum’s atrium. This project is made up of structural foundations representing the primitive human habitat, as well as the graphic element on the ground. It aims to evoke the Parisian terrain’s reliefs, where the Human Museum is located.

The wooden structure is in a pair so as to remind the viewer of the need for community. These identical structures are made of laminated wood so to fit perfectly into the space, following the 2nd floor guard rail material.

1.2 40 GRANDE RUE fontainebleau city hall

We worked on the Fontainebleau French commune cityhall by integrating a new administrative system. The city hall represents the city, which is a large community where agents and citizens work together. The challenge was to create a space in total harmony with Fontainebleau, a city with strong heritage.

Our space is opened in order to keep clarity and bring transparency to the provided services. Our development is based on user’s autonomy as well as personalized support.

1.2 40 GRANDE RUE fontainebleau city hall

Our 300 sqm cityhall is divided in two spaces: an autonomy one and an accompanied one. Those two spaces are differentiated through a change of floor covering: - concrete for autonomy space and waiting room - wood for accompanied space as to make it warmer and user friendly. We also used removable wooden slats partitions to guide users without any hindering.

1.3 LA PETITE COMPAGNIE invest an old railway

La petite compagnie is a project inspired by the place where it is located: "La Petite Ceinture". "La Petite Ceinture" translates as the parisian greenbelt: it is an old and abandoned train track all around Paris that is known for its street art and forbidden access.

La petite compagnie has been designed to offer Parisians an alternative outdoor experience that breaks from urban life. This space devoid of rules gives people freedom in the day.

"La Petite Ceinture" is an underground and alternative place. Access to the unused rail tracks is forbidden, but enthusiasts explore it nonetheless, describing it as a quiet, natural garden space within Paris.

1.3 LA PETITE COMPAGNIE invest an old railway

We chose a simple design inspired by the industrial world. All the structure modules are in steel, and the walls are in oak wood. To keep the place untouched, our elements come together as one at the end of the day and are housed under a tunnel so as to leave the natural universe intact.

access

We exploited the diverse typology of "La Petite ceinture" to build the project. On the 600 meters of rail chosen, we installed rolling and ephemeral elements: 1. The guinguette, the place of relaxation where people can meet each other and have a drink. It takes advantage of the old dock, which becomes a terrace to offer a view. 2. The workshop has been set up in order to offer users the ability to enter this alternative world. As "La Petite Ceinture" is widely known as street art place, our module is composed of a dispenser of spray paint. 3. The scene sometimes uses the bridge for its acoustics and darkness. It houses concerts and projections. It also spreads the sound of the shows at the guinguette through a perforated sheet of metal.

1.4 GRADIENT eco-neighborhood

The Gradient project is an 8-hectare eco-district located in a peri-urban area of Paris. The peri-urban zone is hybrid, both close to the growing hyper-urbanization, but never or rarely associated with an attractive activity. Between the growing economy and a ubiquitous green and agricultural environment. Les Gâtines area, wedged between a sharp national and a dense forest, illustrates the difficulty of considering peri-urban space as a single fabric and not as a succession of disjointed islets.

Gradient gives meaning to these spaces, recreating the link, giving back coherence through an open, multi-generational and cultural neighborhood. This project is built in a gradient way, indeed there is a vegetation gradient from the south plot to the north plot. From the national to the forest our 8 hectares becomes denser in vegetation. There is also an altitude gradient from the north plot to the south plot, the buildings are higher in the south plot and will cut the noise of the motorway.

1.4 GRADIENT eco-neighborhood

This southern area comprises the heart of the district, it includes a large number of offices, warehouses and a large central square with trees, ponds and path. The particularity of this space is that the water recovered by the roof and the ponds are reused in buildings. The inclined roof of surrounding buildings turns solar energy into electricity. The access of the deliveries are on the ground floor under the slab, it is hidden, in order to keep a soft mobility on the lot and helps to ensure a healthy biodiversity.

The northern area welcomes green activities, with a teaching farm, many parks, a farming and craftsmen’s village and a market. It is also an area of conviviality where the generations meet up, with playgrounds for children, and sports area, an amphitheater and a large multipurpose room that the town hall uses for different performances.

1.5 LILO a school to anticipate natural disasters

Haiti is a country subject to many natural disasters: earthquakes, floods, hurricanes that regularly destroy infrastructures, especially schools, reducing access to education. It is by taking into account this recurrent fragility and its dramatic human and consequences that we’ve tackled the following issue:

Our school is a series of islands made of 4 classrooms adaptable to bad weather and which revolve around a multipurpose space, covered, where children eat and gather. Play areas and vegetable gardens are located in the heart of our school. Our school is built entirely with local resources and know-how of Haïti: we used bamboo.

1.5 LILO a school to anticipate natural disasters

Our classrooms are built to protect Haitian students from natural disasters: They are detached from the ground and sunk so the wind does not destroy the structure. In case of heavy precipitation they will not be flooded but will rise thanks to a floating basis. In order to benefit from this water we reused it for cultivation and in case of drought via different ground levels. Thanks to the double structure of the roof, we use the wind as a natural ventilation. In the event of an earthquake, the floating structures will less be damaged due to the bamboo support.

2.1 TRAIT D’UNION coworking desk

The brief was to create a piece of furniture for creative people. Our system consists of 3 modular elements, a desk, a high table and a billboard. The creative people who use it have the possibility to adjust it according to their needs. They can work isolated or together and display their ideas.

Our system can be used in a room as small as 20 square meters or a room as large as 200 square meters. These plans seen from above show the different possible configurations that it can take, and the different spaces it can occupy.

This system is made of galvanized steel and oak wood.

I made this bag for my brother, as a useful companion for roadtrips. He can use it as a backpack in the daytime and as a sleeping bag at night. There are a ground sheet and a pillow in the structure and also a cover which can be zipped inside. I used tablecloth on the exterior for its waterproof quality. Unfolded, it is 1,80m long.

I got inspired by delivery boy’s bag. I used tablecloth for the exterior for its waterproof quality. This idea comes from my brother’s Paris to Amsterdam bicycle trip.

2.3 WOVEN CORK material experimentation

When a lot of attention to detail is put into the design process, both functionality and aesthetic need to be taken in to account. In this case, cork is such a quite interesting material. There are many choices on forms of cork. In order to discover cork’s potential as ornament, we as designer had to spend time to truly understand the harvesting and treating of the material.

2.3 WOVEN CORK material experimentation

Cork by its nature is a unique material. Being harvested from a tree, cork is able to perform in a way natural wood can never do. And by comparing to artificial materials, cork has an appealing nature that they can not be imitated. In our research, flexibility and strength are the two fundamental properties that turns cork into different designs. We created a nature-responsive installation which people will pause and look at.

2.3 WOVEN CORK material experimentation process

By running multiple tests on chair making, we learnt that although both abilities are performed by cork (strength and flexibility), they often fought with each other.

Testing and model making is the only way to find that balancing point.

By making cuts to create more flexibility, the cork would lose its strength and break easier. On the other hand, if the cork is compressed into solid, big shapes to ensure strength, its flexibility would be lost. The controversy made it incredibly difficult to find a balancing point for our design.

2. We used CNC machine to create sticks

1. We used wood working to cut our primitive blocks into plate.

3. Then we assembled more than 100 of them and added dowels at the joints
