Developing my final thesis involved a thorough analysis of the urban context and a strong thread of inquiry; Scale and place. This project draws on the history of a democratic Iceland and the parallels of the everyday and how a familiar scale can encourage discussion.
Context, City Centre Existing context- darker noli Masterplan - lighter print, to be taken as the current contextual situation for thesis. Sea Morphology 1. Future reclaimed land created by masterplan. 2. Current condition 2011 Shading indicating coastal changes between 1999 - 1980- 1920 3. 1876 4. Site plan
This project was the introduction to a proposed masterplan for the water front in the City of Reykjavik, Iceland. With connections to the landscape and the city, understanding the built urban fabric was vital.
