The Connection Between Stress and Candida Yeast

People suffering from chronic yeast infections like Candida overgrowth are already under an enormous amount of physical pressure. This is because yeast overgrowth compromises the immune system, which may eventually put too much stress on the body. This will also cause the adrenal glands to stop producing cortisol, which can cause further damage to the immune system. Depression of Immune System Stress causes the body to release Cortisol, a type of hormone that depresses the immune system and raises blood sugar levels. The Candida yeast, meanwhile feeds on the extra sugar, while the weakened immune system may not be able to stop it. A diet rich in sugar, furthermore, weakens the immune system, leaving it vulnerable to infection and allowing the Candida yeast to thrive.

The Body on Persistent Stress Prolonged

hormone adrenaline.

Drained Adrenal Glands If the adrenals are drained, the person will become tired and exhausted. This will also cause them to load up on caffeine or coffee to somehow boost or improve energy levels. This, however, will drain the immune system and negatively affect its ability to respond properly to Candida yeast and other pathogens.

Low Levels of Adrenalin Constantly drinking coffee also means constantly stressing the body, and causing it to produce extremely low levels of adrenalin. The stress and adrenalin will negatively affect immune function, which leads to the vulnerabilities of certain diseases and Candida overgrowth. The weaker the immune system, the easier it is for Candida to grow and multiply within the body. Proper stress management or counseling is important to lower stress levels. Lifestyle suggestions include relaxation exercises such as yoga, Tai Chi, and meditation. Activities like swimming, walking, and jogging can also help prevent burnout. It is also advisable to stay away from foods that can all contribute to Candida growth such as refined carbohydrates, packaged food, coffee, tea, and alcohol.
