Can best friends start a business together? Move with Elle Fit Active
What is Candid? Bringing the behind-the-scenes to the highlight reel. We are constantly bombarded with media that says it’s all about perfection. The business world favours the hard working, confident, driven entrepreneur. We see success all around us – and it all seems so magical. We are inspired by those who have reached the sky. But we want to know more about what it’s really like for them. What is really happening behind the scenes. To know the secret sauce behind the success. CANDID Magazine is here to showcase the hard work behind the success. The good, the bad and the ugly. It’s not a how-to magazine. It’s not the place to learn the nuts and bolts of how to run a business, start a blog or get a promotion. Instead, we want to show you how to manage the emotional, spiritual, heck, the life challenges you face when aiming for the stars. Be inspired by the very, raw and candid stories behind the trailblazers that are paving the way towards their big, bold dreams. Use these examples to remind yourself that you are just like these trailblazers. Welcome to The Candid Class.

We are dreamers. Grand schemers. Fuelled by passions and driven by desires. We hustle with heart. We sing with soul. We ride the rollercoaster. All day, every day.We are the new movement. We are raw, honest, vulnerable. We are making a change in the world no matter how hard it can be. We don’t shy away from the truth. We don’t hide behind a highlight reel. We embrace our FLaws, our hiccups, our lessons. We savour our joys, our achievements, our wins. And we wouldn’t want it any other way.

Hi Trailblazer! Wow, I can’t believe it’s the second edition already. The free launch edition went off with an absolute bang and I couldn’t be more stoked with the response. I had messages coming at me left, right and centre – all with glowing praise for what we achieved in the first edition. It appears we hit the right note with our mission for this magazine. If you missed the first edition, pop over to Issuu to grab your free copy. A lot has been happening over in the Candid Land (a.k.a Happiness Hub!) since the first edition. We’ve kicked off a live round of the Trailblazer e-course and gave lucky Hub members their very own beautiful Love Ludie candle. Thrown in the mix was a whirlwind trip to Noosa where myself and Chelle – the other half of Candid Class magazine – spent a glorious day exploring the sites of Eumundi Markets. We chatted all things business, growth, the fear of no money coming in and of course, the direction of Candid Class. I’m a big picture person and I have to tell you – I have a BIG picture of Candid Class. 2015 is going to be the year we see this magazine expand beyond a simple, online magazine. What that will be...Well, time will tell. But back to the present. I wanted to make this edition bigger. And better. More honest stories, more candid insights into what it really takes to run your own business. And I believe we’ve got it down pat with our beautiful cover girl, Cassie MendozaJones. I was fortunate to meet Cassie earlier this year at the Hay House publishing workshop and also snagged an appointment with her. She’s a passionate naturopath and kinesiologist, who has been able to take her business beyond expectations. Not only that, she has shown that it IS possible to hold a clinic in your own home – as long as you have your boundaries sorted. I’m sure you will love her interview as much as I did. We’ve also got some great insight from two best friends who went into business together, what really happens when you launch an online product and advice for those studying and struggling with limiting beliefs. Plus of course, we have some yummy recipes and a stretching routine to help you incorporate a little more wellness into your busy life. I hope you enjoy this issue! Each issue is going to be bigger and better than the last, and we would love to feature you in it. Just pop over to katetoholka.com/magazine to find the submission guidelines, or simply email me at kate@katetoholka.com if you feel you have a story to share. Live out loud
Cassie Mendoza-Jon We chat with Cassie about kinesiology, moving the business into the home and managing all that energy.

Not too long ago, you closed up your clinic and moved it into your own home. What was the reason for behind that decision? I was craving more flexibility and even though I could set my own hours in the clinic, I wanted to be able to choose which days I worked with clients, and which days I could focus on the online side of my business. I also wanted to expand my business by opening up Skype coaching and so I felt I needed more privacy so my clients and I could speak as loud as we wanted without bothering anyone else in the clinic, so the natural progression was actually to move home, instead of into a bigger office with more overheads. What challenges did it bring? Initially I thought people would think I was unprofessional, working from home, but then I realised this was just my perception and the pros soon outweighed any perception of cons. The flexibility I have now is just incredible; I couldn’t imagine working from anywhere else. Working from home has allowed me the space to basically double-triple my business and my productivity, while also being able to choose when and how I work. Of course when I made the move, I noticed a few challenges, mainly being that I must now keep the space ‘safe and energetically clear’ at all times, and of course I am extra inspired to keep our home very neat and tidy! How do you manage the work-life balance in your own home? I always make time to exercise in the morning, and will often only start seeing clients around midmorning or after lunch so I have time to do some writing, blogging or just get out of the apartment and into the sunshine or a cafe for a few hours.
I have set firm boundaries around working hours and days, seeing clients only on 2-3 days of the week, so while I may do some writing on the weekend, I don’t really see clients on the weekends and I finish seeing clients by 6:30pm/7pm each night. >>
