DESIGN DESIGN BY BY HEART HEART
We care for furniture – and our vision is to create rooms where people meet and get together. We are fascinated by the contrasts, the roughness, the mix of materials and colours in the “industrial design” thinking. We design and develop attractive furniture to the modern home – focusing on your dining – and living room. The diversity of products in our assortment allows you the individual opportunities of a personal touch. We aim to inspire and challenge our customers through innovative thinking, great design and a bit of craziness. – we care more...
CARE AND MAINTENANCE To prolong your product’s looks and product life, please follow the instructions below about care and maintenance.
Items placed on a wooden table for longer periods may cause differences in colour. The more exposed the wood is to bright light, the faster the change of colour will be.
Color variation, fibre directions and knots are part of wood’s nature and charm, and no two pieces are alike. Wood changes constantly and it affects the volume, colour and structure. The wood will continue to change throughout its life.
If you want to reduce the changing process of the wood/ paint, the process could be slowed down by protecting the wood against bright light and changes in air humidity. Always avoid placing hot and humid things directly on the furniture as they can leave stains.
You must handle the furniture properly.
Never place furniture close to sources of strong heat and air conditioning, as it will cause colour changes, distortions and cracks.
INSTRUCTIONS - WOODEN FURNITURE
HUMIDITY All wood destined for furniture is kiln dried to a moisture content of 6-8%, which is equal to an air humidity of about 40% at the room temperature of 20’C. Solid wood and wooden furniture, in general, should always be placed in rooms where the air humidity is between 40-60%.
Never use harsh cleaners as they will dull the surface and remove the protective layer, making it vulnerable to dirt.
The woodworks – depending on the humidity in its surroundings, absorb or release moisture, depending on humidity. Fluctuations of a larger scale can destroy the furniture.
Alternatively, clean with a clean, damp cloth, with water, then dry it with a clean lint-free cloth.
The wood expands in humid periods and contracts in dry periods. Repeated fluctuations can cause cracks and crack formations. Wooden furniture is especially vulnerable in rooms where windows are open in freezing weather. The change in the humidity can make the tabletops rough or slightly curved, which might also result in a few small cracks between veins. A difference in width between the table and extension leaf may occur due to fluctuations in humidity. This difference will correct itself when the humidity returns to normal. We recommend obtaining a hygrometer to check the humidity.
GENERAL MAINTENANCE In general, wood needs to breathe so it can adapt to the humidity in the room. Never cover solid wooden furniture with airtight materials, like plastic or oilcloth for longer periods. If the wood cannot breathe, it will crack. Full painted surfaces on furniture, like panels or panelled doors in the home, can show cracks in joints if the humidity changes significantly and often. Colour change is a natural part of the furniture. The light and change in humidity will eventually change the colour of the furniture.
CLEANING
Clean with a clean, dry, lint-free cloth from cotton or other material. Do not use microfibre cloths.
CARE Depending on the manufacturer, the surfaces have different finishes and must be maintained with suitable cleaning products. Treat a neutral oiled surface with a neutral oil. Treat a whitewash oiled surface with a whitewash oil. If your table was originally treated with an oil/coat finish, it is important to use a molecular binding oil for future care. Cooperating with Rubio Monocoat, we offer oils that meet the requirements for the next generation of oils, which protects both the color of- and the furniture itself, in one single process. If your table comes with the oil/coat surface, we include the care kit that you must use for maintenance and minor repairs. This includes a simple guide for you to follow. Maintain oiled surfaces 2-4 times a year and further if needed. Treat the furniture for the first time 3-4 weeks after installation. Other wooden surfaces, like for lacquered tops, treat with furniture spray wax at least twice each year. For daily use, treat the surface often. This will keep out dirt and help to prevent penetration of liquid. Always follow the recommended guidelines from the manufacturer about the care of your furniture.
