78 Bali tourists deported from Indonesia so far this year health protocols — though most of them were deported after violating their stay permits. “About five people were viral [on social media]. But those who didn’t go viral, there were about seventy people. Most of them violated their stay permits, which were only for tourism but they were working here,” Jamaruli said. Indonesia has so far deported 78 tourists who had been staying in Bali this year, an official said, with Russian nationals reportedly dominating the list. According to Head of the Bali office for the Law and Human Rights Ministry, Jamaruli Manihuruk, the foreign nationals were deported for a variety of reasons — such as repeatedly violating

Indeed, several cases concerning foreigners in Bali have gone viral this year, eventually leading to the deportation of the people involved. In January, American digital nomad Kristen Gray went viral for a controversial Twitter thread where she encouraged people to move to Bali, and was subsequently

deported from Indonesia. Just last month, a Russian woman named Se Leia was deported for donning a painted face mask and drawing massive backlash across Indonesia for her stunt. Jamaruli said that Russian nationals dominated the list, while also explaining that many violated regulations because they were stressed out and unable to return home to their countries due to the COVID-19 pandemic. “Because right now a lot of people are stressed out, imagine if you are in someone else’s country without a job, it’s easy to get stressed,” he said. The Biggest Catch Bali Police Seizes 44 Kg Of Marijuana The National Narcotics Agency in Bali (BNNP) has foiled an attempt to smuggle 44 kg of marijuana, reportedly originating from the city of Medan in Sumatra, into Bali on June 14. The 22 packages of the drug were found hidden inside sacks of used clothes transported by a box truck along with piles of wood during a raid at the Mengwi Logistics Terminal. According to Coconuts Bali the authorities have been tailing the truck since it left Jakarta some

days ago but waited until the 30year-old truck driver met with the recipient of the shipment before stopping the vehicle and arresting the two men.

General Gede Sugianyar, this is the largest amount of marijuana ever found in Bali and a great achievement in the war against drugs on the island.

The shipment reportedly belonged to one of the most wanted marijuana suppliers in Bali who was arrested along with his wife at Banyuwangi in East Java on the last weekend prior to the bust in Bali.

Some local news outlets took the case a little too far by stating that the operation has “saved” tens of thousands of Balinese from becoming addicted to drugs. This latest bust is definitely a great achievement

According to the head of the BNNP Bali, Police Brigadier

but the amount found is probably only the tip of the iceberg. Bali reportedly has an increasing drug problem which is basically not related to marijuana but to Crystal Meth and other drugs much harder than marijuana.

Dumped On The Roadside 35 Kg Of Medical Waste Found In Gianyar Traced Back To Local Doctor doctor who is reportedly also working at a local hospital in the area.

After around 35 kg of medical waste have been found on the roadside in Bali’s Gianyar regency back in March the local authorities have now traced back this waste back to a local

that this move was highly illegal as this facility is only allowed to accept wast directly from the hospital.

According to the reports this doctor has instructed a contract worker at the hospital to dispose the medical waste from his private practice at the medical waste facility for the hospital. The head of the Gianyar Health Agency, Ida Komang Upeksa, told the press

It is not entirely clear how the medical waste ended up at the roadside but it seems that the medical waste facility refused to accept the bags originating from a private doctor which then prompted the person tasked with the disposal to simply dump 4

it on the roadside instead of trying to find a proper solution for the problem. The identities of the persons involved in the case have not been revealed and we doubt that there will be any public follow up in the case. Dumping medical waste illegally somewhere on the roadside or on normal landfills is pretty normal on the island these days.

United Again Superman is Dead Drummer Jerinx Finally Released From Jail After 10 Months Bali’s and probably Indonesia’s most popular Punk Rock band “Superman is Dead” has been united with their drummer, I Gede Aryastina commonly known as Jerinx, again after the latter has been released from jail on Tuesday morning last week. He was reportedly picked up at Kerobokan prison by his wife, Nora Alexandra, his father I Wayan Arjono and his two Superman is Dead band-mates, Bobby Cool and Eka Rock. As expected Jerinx refused to give any kind of statement to the waiting press. His lawyer, I Wayan ‘Gendo’ Suardana, told the reporters that his client might hold a press conference later but until now we haven't heard anything. Jerinx was initially sentenced to 14 month in jail after a controversial Instagram post earlier last year in which he criticized the Indonesian Doctors Association (IDI) and accused them of being “flunkeys” to the World Health Organization (WHO) which ended in a police report made by IDI and Jerinx’s imprisonment for “hate speech”. His sentence was finally reduced to 10 months following an appeal. The 43year-old musician has been detained since August last year. The musician’s legion of fans has been celebrating his freedom on social media over the past week, trending the hashtags #WelcomeHomeJRXSID and #KamiBersamaJRX (we are with JRX). 8 THE CANGGU WEEKLY, 18 Jun - 25 Jun 2021

You can now take your pre-wedding photos at Bali’s Ngurah Rai normal rooms, and we might be able to send them home in three days,” Anak Agung Made Widiasa, the director at Wangaya, said today. Widiasa claimed that the bed occupancy rate in Wangaya is currently at 5.17 percent, out of a total of 58 beds available at the facility. Wangaya General Hospital in Denpasar is currently treating only three COVID-19 patients, becoming the latest illustration in the recent decline of coronavirus cases in Bali. “In Wangaya we are only treating three people. One is in the ICU and two in the

Meanwhile, government data per June 15 showed 16.27 percent bed occupancy rate for isolation rooms in the whole of Denpasar, whereas 37 out of the city’s 108 ICU rooms were occupied at the time.

Bali reported 65 COVID-19 cases today. Official numbers have suggested a downtrend of COVID-19 cases in the province, with a generally hopeful outlook in terms of fatality and recovery rates. However, there have been concerns that government data may represent only a small fraction of the actual severity of the pandemic in Bali. A Reuters report published earlier this month cited a seroprevalence study conducted by the University of Udayana, which showed that the rate of infection in Bali is 53 times higher in September and November than what was officially reported. Ashram Closed Bali Officials Including Bali’s Governor Reported To Human Rights Commission Bali Governor, I Wayan Koster, along with other officials, has been accused of hindering worshiping activities by he International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON), prompting the organization to file a human rights violation report with the Indonesian National Commission for Human Rights (Komnas HAM). The Bali House of Representatives (DPRD) issued a recommendation to disband ISKCON, also commonly known as “Hare Krishna” in case of a disruption of the public order back in October last year after receiving a number of complaints from the Balinese society. According to the

DPRD several Hare Krishna activities were not in accordance with Hindu religious culture and have disturbed the community. Earlier this year in April, the Krishna Balaram Ashram in Denpasar was closed and prohibited from carrying out its activities following a decision made by the Indonesian Parisada Hindu Dharma Association (PHDI) and Bali’s Majelis Desa Adat (MDA), the traditional village council in December last year. “We were told that we defied the Bali Dresta (traditional Balinese code). But we are all Balinese. Our ancestors are Balinese. Our teacher, who is

also our chairman is Balinese,” ISKCON Indonesia’s secretary general, Putu Wijaya told the press. A representative of ISKCON’s legal team, Dewa Krisna Prasada, also claimed that the organization has been persecuted by the local village authorities and other mass organizations, who entered their holy spaces with force and insulted a figure ISKCON regarded as holy.

It Ain't Over Indonesia Records Nearly 10,000 New COVID-19 Infections On A Single Day After the number of new COVID-19 cases in Indonesia has dropped to a more or less moderate level of 4,000 to 6,000 per day the numbers have increased again since the Eid al-Fitr holiday season at the end of Ramadan when millions of Indonesians blatantly ignored the nationwide travel ban and insisted to travel to their home villages to spend time with their families and friends. Since last week the number of daily new COVID-19 cases

across the nation has returned to the levels we have seen at the end of February right after the spike caused by the travel wave during the Christmas and New Year holiday. during the Eid al-Fitr holiday. On Sunday June 13 the number of new COVID-19 infections in the country reached 9,868 which is the biggest daily increase since February 22 and, according to the national COVID-19 Task Force, clearly related to the increased travel activities

THE CANGGU WEEKLY, 18 Jun - 25 Jun 2021

News Compressed A Short Run-Down Of Stuff That Didn't Make It Into a Full Article Beside all that COVID-19 madness and the fact that almost all news are focusing on the development of the pandemic on the island there are still other things going on. If you live or have stayed in Bali you probably had (or still have) them in your neighborhood too or you have been regularly and heavily disturbed by them in your daily routine. We are talking about all these modified motorbikes with extremely loud exhaust systems. The are literally everywhere, are mainly used by teenagers or young male adults and have been objects of contention for a long time. But this might end soon as the Bali police is taking strict measures against these noisy exhaust systems now. According to the

press all motorbike workshops in the Badung regency, one of the areas where this problem went out of hand over the last years, have been instructed not to modify motorbikes with loud exhaust systems any more or to face legal consequences. On top of these instructions the Head of the Badung Traffic Police, AKP Aan Saputra, tols reporters that motorists who insist to use these exhaust systems may have their motorbikes sized by the police. A number of resident of a village of in Gianyar’s Tegalalang Sub-District have made it to the headlines after complaining about the stench of the

waste in the sewers inside their village. Funny enough this is a 100% homemade problem and the villagers are actually complaining about the smell of their own waste as confirmed by a village official. It seems that the villagers are constantly (and illegally) dumping their household waste in the sewers right in front of their house. This waste was usually washed away by the water in the sewer and became a problem somewhere else. But now, due to the construction of a new drainage system the water flow in the village sewers has been blocked. One would assume that the villagers would now stop throwing their rubbish in these sewers but no, they simply continue with their old habits. Now the sewers are full of rotting household waste and the resulting stench prompted the villagers to file a complaint with the authorities.

Public prosecutors at the Denpasar District Court have demanded a 20 year jail term for the Indonesian man who murdered his 29-year-old Slovak girlfriend in her villa in Sanur back in January this year after she ended her relationship with him due to his alcohol problems about a month before the incident. The man, identified as LP reportedly went to her house to apologize for his mistakes but brought a knife with him, a fact that is now leading the prosecutors to charge him with premeditated murder which is punishable with a minimum 20 years in jail and with the death sentence as a maximum punishment under the Indonesian Criminal Code.

The Australian replies; gee, I can't find mine either, how about we go and look for them together? Sure, says the Englishman, what does you wife look like? Eh well, she's blonde, long hair, tall slim body, well tanned, large breasts and she's wearing a tight fitting low cut black dress. What does your wife look like?
