Omicron: Indonesia to ban international arrivals from 14 countries and/or visited [the 14 countries] within a period of 14 days,” the circular reads. The ban applies to arrivals from countries or territories with the following criteria: • Another day, another set of travel rules in Indonesia, as the country announces that it’s closing its borders to foreign arrivals from 14 countries with high Omicron risk starting tomorrow.
•
The temporary ban is stipulated in a fresh circular issued by Indonesia’s COVID-19 Task Force, which will take effect on Friday. • “[Indonesia is] temporarily suspending the entry of foreign citizens, either directly or via transit, who have stayed
Countries that have confirmed community transmission of the Omicron variant: South Africa, Botswana, Norway, and France; Countries or territories that are geographically close to countries with community transmission of the Omicron variant: Angola, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Eswatini, and Lesotho; Countries or territories with over 10,000 confirmed Omicron cases: United Kingdom and Denmark.
Previously this week, the central government mandated that travelers coming from countries with high Omicron risk would only have to quarantine for 10 days upon arrival, replacing another fresh rule by the COVID-19 Task Force mandating 14 days of quarantine for this group. Indonesians who are returning from the 14 above countries, however, may enter the country but would have to quarantine for 10 days, the circular says. Travelers, both Indonesian and foreign, coming from everywhere else are required to quarantine for seven days. (coconuts.co)

Ogoh-Ogoh Parades to be Tightly Controlled Nyepi – Bali’s official day of island-wide silence will fall on Thursday, 03 March 2022. In keeping with local tradition, the night before Nyepi, 02 March 2022, will be marked with street parades across the island and mardi-gras-like parades of papier-mache effigies (ogohogoh) created by members of local community halls (banjars).
Traditionally riotous affairs hosted on crowded village and city streets, Nyepi parades have been canceled over the past two years due https:// balidiscovery.com/wp-content/uploads/ 2020/07/ogoh1.jpg to COVID-19 mandates from the government. By government order, restricted, scaled-down pre-Nyepi parades will be limited to a maximum of 50 participants, with parade routes limited to areas near the Banjar that created each ogoh ogoh. That represents a 56 percent increase from the same period a year ago, which actually had more flights coming in and out of Bali. “I am optimistic that the rate will continue to increase this year,” Herry said yesterday. Bali officials love to use the number of passengers passing through Ngurah Rai Airport as an indicator for the island’s tourism revival. And recent numbers look good. The airport’s general manager, Herry Sikado, said Ngurah Rai saw 406,682 departures and arrivals during the Christmas and New Year holiday
Bali was once again a popular year-end holiday destination for domestic travelers as Indonesia’s COVID-19 crisis became manageable after the devastating mid-2021 wave the whole country experienced. The actual number of tourists during this period has not yet been CANGGU WEEKLY, 07 Jan - 14 Jan 2022
determined, as a large number travel from Java to Bali by land (and ferry). It’s likely that Bali officials’ next focus would be to revive the island’s international tourism potential after reopening to foreign tourists from select countries in October 2021. Prior to the reopening, the island only saw 45 international tourists arriving in the first 10 months of 2021. We have yet to see the numbers after October’s reopening, though early indications suggest that the international tourism relaunch has been wholly anticlimactic. (coconuts.com)
