Holywings Bali rebrands as Atlas Beach Fest as new club takes off in the company’s management. “There is no legal cause, there is no political reason. [The name change] is just because of the new management,” he said.
Indonesian bar chain Holywings’ plan to open a beach club in Bali seems to be unaffected (well, almost) by a blasphemy scandal that led to the closure of their establishments. We said “almost” because, while the beach club was officially launched yesterday, it is now operating under a different name: Atlas Beach Fest. Celebrity attorney Hotman Paris Hutapea, one of the club’s shareholders who often gives public statements regarding Holywings, told local news outlets that the rebranding was purely done due to changes
The famous lawyer, who often represents celebrities in highprofile scandals, also added that there are no issues with their permits and Atlas Beach Fest is ready to welcome guests as of today. Hotman said that the company has obtained all of the required permits for Atlas Beach Fest. This may be essential as administrative issues were cited as the official reason for Jakarta shuttering its 12 Holywings outlets, including some bars not having the permit to serve alcohol. Coconuts Bali has reached out to Hotman Paris for further clarification. The company has touted Atlas Beach Fest,
located on Berawa Beach, Tibubeneng, to be the biggest beach club in Southeast Asia. High anticipation for the beach club was marred by a blasphemy scandal after the chain posted a free alcoholic drinks promo for men named Muhammad and women named Maria in June. The promo sparked outrage in the Muslimmajority nation, prompting the closure of all 36 Holywings bars and clubs in the country. Aside from the Bali venue, there is no indication yet that any of Holywings outlets would be able to reopen. (Coconuts.co)

In too deep: Bali restaurant built inside a cave temporarily shut down over lack of permit The hotel, ergo restaurant, is located on Pura Goa Lempeh Street in Pecatu Village, South Kuta District. Badung Satpol PP (Public Order Agency) today shut the restaurant down until further notice, as they said The Edge does not possess a license to run a restaurant inside a cave. The decision was made after Satpol PP, along with Badung’s Cultural Heritage Bureau and Capital Investment and One Stop Service (DPMPTSP), inspected the restaurant this morning. Officials in Bali have suspended the operations of The Cave, a restaurant built inside a cave in Pecatu that is run by The Edge Hotel over permit issues. The dining place has been in the spotlight amid questions about its impact on the environment as well as safety concerns.
“The first conclusion is that the activities here [at the restaurant] are suspended,” said Badung Satpol PP Chief I Gusti Agung Ketut Suryanegara. He elaborated that while The Edge has obtained permits, they only covered regular 4
hotel and restaurant businesses. “For the [restaurant] below (in the cave), for certain [they don’t] have permits,” he added. Badung’s Cultural Heritage Bureau will investigate the cave itself to determine whether the site should be categorized as a cultural or historical heritage. The official did not say as to when the restaurant may reopen or whether they would get the license at all. As previously reported, The Cave was launched in May this year and became infamous after a TikToker’s review of the restaurant went viral. (coconuts.co)

BPOM pulls vanilla Häagen-Dazs over ethylene oxide contamination Häagen-Dazs ice cream over pesticide contamination concerns.
Indonesia may be a few weeks behind, but the country’s Food and Drug Monitoring Agency (BPOM) today announced a recall of the vanilla flavor of
“All other Häagen-Dazs ice cream products registered with BPOM may be distributed in Indonesia,” the statement read.
In a statement published today, BPOM said it is pulling the mini cup (100 milliliters) and pint (473 milliliters) variants of HäagenDazs’ vanilla ice cream, which were imported from France, from retail distribution. The agency cited an alert from the European Union warning that the products contained ethylene oxide — a chemical found in pesticide — to be the reason for the recall.
Ethylene oxide, a flammable gas with a sweet odor, may cause headache, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and breathing difficulty, among other mild symptoms. It is also carcinogenic to humans by the inhalation route of exposure. Many countries around the world have ordered recalls for the 8
same product. Closer to home, the vanilla ice cream was recalled in Hong Kong and Singapore, among others, earlier this month. BPOM says it will conduct market inspections to ensure the product is no longer in distribution. The agency has called on the public to report any discovery of vanilla HäagenDazs before its distribution permit is reinstated. (Coconuts.co)
