Publisher's Note FROM THE FOUNDER

In 1996, California became the first state to sell cannabis legally under a medical program. Since then, cannabis has been expanding at a rapid pace. Adult-use cannabis is now legal in 24 states and the District of Columbia; medical cannabis is legal in 40 states and the District of Columbia. Today’s US cannabis industry is valued at over $40 billion, with projections suggesting it could exceed $100 billion in the coming years.

At the heart of this industry are the entrepreneurs, investors and innovators who develop the brands and products of the future, satisfying the diverse needs and desires of cannabis enthusiasts around the world.

Over the past 15 years, Cannabis Now has been connecting cannabis businesses and consumers of all kinds through our print, digital and social media platforms, along with editorial newsletters, film content and live events. We aim to build a better, brighter future through authentic storytelling and robust partnerships—a future where business is thriving, and cannabis is accessible for all who need it.

What started in 2009 as a grassroots print publication between a few college friends who all shared a love for high-quality herb and meaningful storytelling has since grown into North America's premiere cannabis media network.

We used to pull all nighters in the office as the press deadline inched closer and closer. Now, with little ones in tow, we all seem to be staying up late for different reasons. But despite all of life's changes, our "why" behind Cannabis Now remains the same: We whole heartedly believe in the power of the cannabis plant and all the good it can bring to this world.

Cannabis Now Magazine features cannabisrelated stories from around the globe that enlighten, educate and entertain. Whether you're a longtime enthusiast, a new consumer, or you're just plain curious, we have a story for you. With 15 years under out belt, we've learned that no matter what happens, for better or for worse, stories must be told; cannabis must grow. And in our experience, the two go better together.
