Zinc Screen

In this technical studio I chose to create a zinc framing system. Zinc is a versatile material that can serve many purposes such as a functional rainscreen, or a ventilated facade system. In addition, Zinc is a recyclable material that can typically last up to 100 years. The screen system serves as a shade structure for the renovated parking garage. Shown in the south elevation, the building is mainly covered by the perforated zinc which helps block the rays coming in from the high-noon sun. On the north side of the building there are cut outs of the zinc system to allow for increased air flow. In the renovated parking garage, carvings on the south, east and north side of the building are used to maximize natural light exposure throughout the building.

ASU STUDENT PAVILION Summer 2018 / Architecture Studio Instructors / Jose Bernardi + Jacob Atherton + Kristian Kelly The idea of Order meets Chaos sprung from the idea of life. Every individual has their own way of structure- that being the order in their life and chaos is the curve-balls that life throws at you.
