Freshers’ Week and joining in We’re a friendly, supportive community, here to help you during your time at CCCU, from the exciting moments to the challenging ones. This all starts with Freshers’ Fayre during your first week at uni, with a chance to sign up for a variety of societies and sports clubs. Come and see us at the new Students’ Union building at the heart of Canterbury Campus, attend events at our Lounge Bar & Kitchen in the city centre, or if you’re at Medway Campus join us at The Hub.
The easiest way to make friends and get involved at university is to find something in common... and that’s where our sports clubs (see page 35) and societies come in. There are too many to list here – everything from Dungeons & Dragons to Forensics, from KPop to MedSoc, from Karaoke to Musical Theatre. For more information, visit ccsu.co.uk or scan: @christchurchsu

Canterbury is just 50 miles south-east of London, less than an hour by train from St Pancras. It’s an historic cathedral city, a World Heritage Site, and one of the UK’s ‘must-see’ cities.
Canterbury Campus
Medway Campus
Our Canterbury Campus is right in the centre of the city, with shops, cafés, clubs, and bars all within walking distance. Canterbury hosts cultural events and exhibitions year-round at the Marlowe Theatre, Canterbury Cathedral, and Canterbury’s museums.
The Medway Campus is close to Chatham, which is steeped in naval history, and to Rochester, with its beautiful cathedral and buzzing high street. Medway has vibrant festivals throughout the year and fascinating museums including the Chatham Historic Dockyard (a filming location for Mission Impossible, Call the Midwife, Les Misérables and Loki). The campus itself is in Chatham Maritime, a student-friendly quarter with a multiplex cinema, a shopping centre, and a fully-equipped sports centre. London is under an hour away by train.
Canterbury is surrounded by beautiful countryside, picturesque villages, stunning coastal scenery, and cosmopolitan city life. A short bus ride away are the seaside towns of Whitstable and Margate - with Margate voted one of the coolest neighbourhoods in the country by Time Out magazine.
Studying a subject that interests and inspires you is the main reason for coming to university.
