CHAIRMAN’S REPORT largest club group in Australia. We are excited to welcome Greg to the Canterbury family. Last magazine I reported that the Club’s renovations were due to be completed in November. I am happy to report that we did close out the project as projected. Following completion, the new areas of the Club have been trading exceptionally well. The Bistro, in particular, has seen record trade with thousands of Members and guests enjoying the excellent food and service over the Christmas period. We have also been taking on board your feedback and this month we will be launching a brand new menu in The Bistro with a larger selection of dishes, some mouth-watering new additions plus all your existing favourites. I trust everyone had a safe and enjoyable Christmas and New Year. The celebrations haven’t stopped yet, however, as we celebrate Australia Day later this month and Chinese New Year and Valentine’s Day in February. On Australia Day weekend The Bistro will be featuring some uniquely Australian dishes and on Australia Day we will have a free wildlife display to entertain the kids. For Chinese New Year we will have one of Sydney’s biggest lion dance shows as well as visits from the God of Fortune. For Valentine’s Day you can’t beat sharing a Seafood Platter with your loved one in Lavico Italian Ristorante while being entertained by the wonderful Oscar Kami. Don’t forget to book as this one often sells out quickly.

Dear Members, I am pleased to advise that the Club has appointed a new Chief Executive Officer, with Greg Pickering to commence in the role early this year when his existing commitments have been completed. Greg joins us after eighteen years as the CEO of Mounties, where he has overseen the growth of Mounties into the

On behalf of the Board, Management and Staff I wish all of our Members a Safe and Prosperous 2019.

DEVELOPMENT

DEVELOPMENT UPDATE Canterbury League Club’s renovations have now been completed. The renovations include a stylish new bar called The Atrium Bar that provides the perfect backdrop for pre-show drinks and a place to catch up with friends. The Bar is nestled among the rainforest and features a seating pod that provides views of the Club and the iconic waterfall.

The play area in The Bistro is now finalised, so Mum and Dad can have a relaxing dinner while kids enjoy themselves. The area also features free arcade games for older children. Take a look at some photos of the newly completed areas:

Kids will love exploring the new play area while mum and dad have a relaxing meal in The Bistro.

The Atrium Bar will be serving cocktails and mouth-watering appetizers

Moustie hanging with personal trainer George

MEET MOUSTIE Moustafa Ardati or as his friends at C-Life call him Moustie, has been training with George Boutros since May 2014 at C-Life Health Club.

He has not only had a positive impact on others with the same disability but has inspired them to start personal training at C-Life.’

What sets Moustie apart from other clients that George trains is that he has Cerebral Palsy but that hasn’t stopped Moustie from training 3 times a week. Moustie is a die-hard Canterbury Bulldogs fan and when he isn’t at the gym he enjoys watching the games.

The main message that Moustie uses to inspire others is ‘Stay True, Be You.’ The motto motivates others to follow their dreams and stay true to who they are. No two-training session that George facilitates are the same.

‘I have known Moustie for nearly 5 years and each day I see him, he has a smile on his face. Moustie is very committed and dedicated to his training,’ said Arthur Siambis, General Manager of C-Life Health Club. ‘Moustie can be seen around the gym and has become part of the C-Life family.

6

George focuses on developing and training Moustie in motor function, mobility, aerobic conditioning which involves circuits, body balancing and strength training. ‘I love training with George, he is like my younger brother, we’re always picking on each other, wrestling and joking around. But I feel we get the best out of one another, always looking for ways to

improve and try new things,’ Moustie said. Just recently Moustie achieved his main goal of being able to walk and take a few steps by himself. In 2016, Moustie was invited to present to other C-Life members to help inspire them achieve their own goals. All of this has been possible through the support of Canterbury League Club’s ClubGrants program. The ClubGrants program has been able to support Moustie over the years so that he would be able to continue his training at C-Life. To keep up to date with Moustie’s journey visit staytruebeyou.com.au

MEET OUR PERSONAL TRAINER: PRINCE Meet our Personal Trainer Prince. Prince is one of the many familiar faces that make up the C-Life Family. When did you start training? I started training at the age of 10. I mainly played soccer. I soon got into weight training when I was around 19 years old. What are your qualifcations? I hold a certificate 3 & 4 in fitness, kettle bell levels 1 & 2 and box fit. Currently I am at university studying nursing to be a paramedic. What are some tips you can give people who lack motivation? I would recommend you start off with easy and simple goals. Always write down how you feel after your work out to keep track. It’s also a good idea to train with a friend or in groups to find yourself a training buddy.

What’s your favourite sport? Soccer all day! When I’m not in the gym or training you will find me on a soccer field. I travelled to Italy to play soccer for Sydney Olympic against Juventus and Inter Milan, it was a pretty big thing for me. I have also represented NSW for athletics. Why do you train? There’s no better feeling than achieving the goals we set, that drives me to always do better, plus I want to look fit in my 50s and inspire others to train. If you could train with anyone who would it be? Cristiano Ronaldo and Anthony Joshua. The commitment and dedication they put into their respective sport is unbelievable, training with them would be pretty awesome. Favourite cheat meal? BBQ chicken pizza Favourite Quote? Your greatest wealth is your health
