We have a de-skilling economy without a re-skilling work force Dear Prospective Student, With the rapidly changing Technology, for the past couple of years, the world is in the grip of severe skills deficit. There is no dearth of talent. The challenge is of getting talent that meets the need of corporate world. In other words, the challenge is that of employability. U.S.A. the world’s largest economy is to-day considering proposals to overhaul education system due to rising skills gap. India, a relatively smaller economy with much bigger workforce faces a deeper crisis, perhaps far deeper than any other nation in the world. Its demographic

04

trends (300 million new workers by 2025), its archaic educational system (barely 9-10% of graduates are employable), its economic structure-agriculture contributes 18% to GDP & employs 56% work forcemakes the crisis painful & difficult. We have a deskilling economy without a re-skilling work force. A degree-driven Indian Society treats education as a proxy for skill levels. This creates strong demand-supply gap.

has potential to grow on the strength of its internal consumption . The inflation negates the growth. To meet this challenge, skills will become a constraint without proper higher education. In backdrop of this, over 1.3 lacs people go abroad every year in search of opportunities. Also, there is an urgent need for upgradation of skills of rural educated youth. For all this, educational system is to be strengthened.

In spite of current Global Melt down, India will aspire for a super growth strategy. Even 9 to 10% growth is not enough. We have to grow at double digit rates & India

The Promoters of IBA having IIT, IIM & similar professional backgrounds visualized this a decade ago & to address the need, IBA was established nine years back with

the primary objective of providing World class management education in tune with the contemporary requirements. It launched its academic activities in July 2001 after creating World class infrastructure at its Bangalore Campus. The world is moving towards a new vision of ‘holistic globalization‘ driven by four fundamental forces viz. force of market, force of State, force of people and force of self. In response to the same, a new corporate model has also been emerging wherein there is an integration of profit approach with social contribution of the corporations coupled with good governance. The new holistic vision of the world and the new corporate requirements need a new breed of global managers who would not only contribute to the development of their organization but would also provide leadership to the society to make the world a better place for living. IBA was established on the premise of this vision of its founders and has significantly contributed in this direction through many creative and innovative ideas. In consonance with this vision, the aim of IBA is to develop future CEO’s – Creative, Enlightened and Organic leaders to provide future leadership to industry and society. ‘IBA’ stands for three success mantras viz. Inspiration, Breakthrough and Achievement. At IBA, these three success mantras are represented by success formula viz. Success = Inspiration X Breakthrough X Achievement (S = I X B X A). Achievement represents an inner drive to make significant contributions in one’s professional career. These three represent the ‘IBA’ model of leadership. Learning at IBA is rooted in the 3 D model of Discussion, Dialogue and Discourse. This learning model, with roots in democratic world view, facilitates development of both left brain and right brain capabilities. CEO’s Message Greetings from IBA Bengaluru. In late nineties, when Bengaluru was emerging as the ‘knowledge city’ and the ‘intellectual capital’ of India, IBA was conceptualized in the city of Bengaluru to capitalise the emerging opportunities for the aspiring youth of the country. The IBA’s founding mission was to bring excellence in Teaching, Development of Students, Corporate Networking and in Placements. We decided to address these issues by creating a world-class infrastructure in a 8.5 acre (34,398 Sq. Mts) lush-green land. The curriculum at IBA is rigorous and constantly upgraded based on corporates’ requirement and is in tune with the latest case studies and real time experiences. A strong and active corporate networking helps us to feed the inputs from the industry into academics. Apart from curriculum, the best available faculty teaches IBAians to improve their leadership, communication and soft skills. At IBA, the talent of the students is sharpened through various Clubs like the HR, I3, Operations, Marketing, Finance and Retail Club. These clubs actively organize learning events, seminars guest lectures to keep the club members abreast with latest trends in corporate and academia. IBA (which is more popular as ‘Indiapura’ because of students from all the communities, backgrounds and almost 21 states) has an active Cultural club which celebrates prominent festivals like Navratri, Christmas, Ramjan, Onam, Paryushan Parva, Durga Pooja, Ganesh Chaturthi, Diwali to name a few. The end results of these strategies are visible, to the envy of many branded B-Schools of the country. IBA is maintaining 100% Placements since its inception. The students have won awards in Research Paper Presentations. IBAians are winning a major chunk of awards and trophies in B-School Competitions in Bengaluru, NCR and elsewhere. Director-Academics Message Dear Students Your journey for success (to become a diamond) starts with your dreams. When you dream big then only you can think big. When you think big than only you can act big. When you act big than only you can achieve big. At IBA, we prepare students for high pressure management jobs, where they have to work for 12 hours (or more) every day for almost 365 days in a year, the students get acclimatized in the Institute itself to work hard and therefore we give them enough exposure through large number of case studies, quizzes, home work, projects so that they should not face any problem after they pass out from IBA and can truly become DIAMOND, a big asset and the brand ambassadors of IBA. Our entire IBA team is committed to the vision and mission of IBA to make Indus Business Academy, a truly globally competitive business school, benchmarking with the best business schools of the world in terms of academics, industry centric research, seminars, consultancy while nurturing the young talent i.e. each of you into innovative entrepreneurs and global business leaders who will produce wealth for the nation. Remember, success is a journey and not a destination. Ensure that you are on the right path (say at IBA), moving in the right direction – instead of just at the right speed. As Mark Twain has said that “The secret of getting ahead is getting started.” So act NOW and get ready to join at IBA. My best wishes for your professional & personal success. “Always bear in mind that your own resolution to success is more important than any other one thing.” - Abraham Lincoln Former President of USA “Diamond is just another piece of coal that did well under pressure.”

CEO’s Message Greetings from IBA Greater Noida. It gives me immense pleasure to introduce IBA’s Greater Noida Campus to you. Shaping up at one of the best educational hub of North India, the campus within a span of four years has firmly established itself among the corporate, academicians, students and society. The campus is a blend of well crafted buildings, greenery, sitting areas, play fields and lawns, spreading over 5 acre of land, with round the clock security. The enriching and challenging campus life offers full opportunities to students for holistic development. India, since ages, has been known as the cultural as well as the spiritual capital of the world. Now its prowess in the field of IT and Manufacturing is also accepted by World. One of the major advantages India has is its vast pool of young population, which is now coming forward to shape the future of this country. These young minds (like you!) require the best of the education and training so that they become the wealth creators, by intelligently combining the skills they possess with the best post graduate program. This is where IBA comes into the picture. Our objective of existence is definitely not to impart management education alone. It’s much beyond that. We intend to develop such leaders who can be not only job seekers, but job creators; not only business managers focusing on profits, but transformational leaders who also care about the society at large. The beauty of management education lies in the unstructured approach it follows towards learning. It is not limited only to classroom teaching, but extends to other means. All the methods have their own importance, and this is the uniqueness in the learning methods at IBA which include ‘Candle Light’ experiments, ‘Who am I’ exercises and ‘Vision Building’ sessions. Another important aspect of education at IBA is the student centric approach of the program. Students are involved in all aspects of institute’s functioning. It is achieved through students’ clubs organizing various activities like business quizzes, guest lectures, seminars, panel discussions, cultural events and sports activities. In fact the placement process is handled by the students, who work closely with the Placement Officer to achieve 100% quality placements. The two years’ education is divided into six trimesters, the first three focus on the basic concepts in Marketing, Finance, Operations, International Business, IT and Human Resource. Students can opt for two electives in the second year, thereby getting dual specialization. The whole course is structured in such a way that students learn to forget their differences, learn to live and work together in groups and to achieve the desired results.

Team IBA (CEO, Faculty members, Staff & Students) work towards a common goal, each one playing their own well defined role. I want to emphasize that much of the responsibility of making a successful career lies on the students themselves. If you are self motivated, hard working, intelligent and sincere, who believe in oneself first, takes initiative, know how to make best use of limited time and resources, and can lead from front, then I strongly recommend IBA to you. Two years’ investment at IBA will ensure a successful and meaningful career to you. Wishing you all the very best !

The Right Track Program Overview IBA’s Programme creates a synergy between education and practice. It addresses those with a strong desire to make it to the top and have a drive within, to excel. It is structured for those with a passion to constantly reinvent oneself. It is a unique management education programme that encourages critical, clear and innovative thinking about ‘good’ and ‘best’ practices. IBA fortifies these discerning thoughts by building solid business skills in a collaborative environment. IBA combines a world class learning environment with a supportive and flexible approach to teaching. What also sets IBA apart, is the fact that both Bengaluru and Greater Noida Campuses are located in prime corporate zones of both cities.

What sets the participants at the IBA programme apart, is that they have the aptitude and background to excel. In a competitive job market, graduates rarely secure a job solely on the basis of their degree. Academic qualifications or technical skills are only part of the bigger picture - you need to be able to prove to a potential employer that you have the skills and experience they are looking for. Keeping this in mind, the IBA curriculum is constantly fine tuned to the issues that the corporates face everyday. The course is designed to develop more innovative, enterprising and effective managers with the requisite knowledge, skills and managerial competencies to face the opportunities and challenges of the 21st century. The approach followed is to establish a synergy between education and practice and create opportunities for reallife situations where students are guided by practising managers. The programme also encourages students to analyse individual strengths and weaknesses as part of the self development process to function effectively in a complex and changing international business environment. A stringent admission process, followed by a varied teaching methodology which includes class-room presentations, lectures, seminars, workshops, case studies, corporate internships, interactions with industry personnel and international exposure ensures that the IBA students have an edge when they enter the corporate world.

An extensive corporate internship enables the students to get hands-on experience in blue chip companies. What is unique to IBA is that the last two trimesters are devoted to building entrepreneurial skills, because a successful manager is perceived as a wealth creator for the organisation. The last lap at IBA is devoted to the placement exercise. Preparing the students for this begins much earlier through a process of communication, campus mock interviews, group discussions, etc. A careful placement strategy is in place to provide the students the most appropriate spring- boards for their careers. The Indus Business Academy Management programme provides a solid foundation in the key business disciplines and reflects the breadth of management issues that arise in the national and international context. IBA also believes in imparting its students with skills and insights which cannot be gained from textbooks alone. An IBA graduate does not leave its portals with merely a toolkit of skills but also with adequate mental preparedness. The curriculum packs in ingredients to enhance the crucial emotional intelligence along with logical thinking because IBA believes that in a turbulent social and organizational structure, what will win in the end is the heart, in addition to the head. The IBA curriculum is primed towards enhancing the student in a multi-dimensional mode. The carefully collated subject groups target a particular dimension such as Single Individual, Team Member, Manager, Entrepreneur, Societal Individual and Leader. IBA has a supportive, close-knit environment where faculty members are readily accessible and students can best develop their individual management potential. Underpinning the IBA’s approach to learning and teaching are all the resources that you would expect of a major management school from library to WiFi connectivity supplemented by the institute’s dedicated resources. IBA also understands the need to offer students a flexible approach to their studies. The emphasis is therefore on self-paced learning where students are encouraged to study and gain knowledge at their own pace.

Cultural Symbols at IBA The Omega Circle

Steps

Developed by our Dean Dr. Subhash Sharma, Omega Circle represents the 360 degree approach at looking issues, i.e. to take a holistic view of the situation. If one draws different lines in a circle, one gets many ‘Ts’. The ‘Ts’ represents truth, and if one stand at one point in a circle, he/ she will see only that version of truth. But to get a holistic picture, one has to travel along the circle and look at different Ts, i.e. Truth.

Steps at IBA represent step by step approach to success and is also represented by IBA song written by Dr. Subash Sharma.

In corporate context, it symbolizes at looking things from a larger perspective and then handling the complex business problems.

There are around 50 trees in the campus planted by different eminent personalities from the corporate and academic field and they have become an important symbol of growth in the campus. Trees, according to our Dean Dr. Subhash Sharma, represent the GDP- i.e. Growth, Development and Progress. When these trees will grow, it will symbolize the GDP of the person who has planted it.

Pankaj Tulsiram Atkar Greater Noida Batch 2008-10 Senior Associate - Supply Chain Management TATA Motors Ltd. It is true that IBA is young but have all the energetic and dynamic attributes that lead you to a successful manager in this competitive atmosphere. Curriculum,Infrastructure, Library and club activity are the core competencies of IBA and this lead to excellent learning conditions. CGPA and other evaluation system give you the platform to compete and show your knowledge and skills. Guest lectures and Workshop helps to boost your knowledge base. Finally cultural activities and other exciting events make the environment cool and friendly. So learning at IBA is really cool where you will enjoy your 2 years of life and will be able to think in a lateral way “Need for Innovation”. Neha Hari Bangalore Batch 2008-10 Time has flown ever since I joined the IBA, Bangalore n the year 2008. Life here just doesn’t stop. With classes starting from 9.00 in the morning, till the evening, followed by club activities and events, and then assignments and group activities and our pre reading for next class, life has just been really fast, like never before. But I can say that the experience is just amazing. One can see the electrifying atmosphere in the evenings with people huddling for different club meetings, late night volleyball and basketball matches or people brainstorming for cracking their case studies. I am just trying to make my transition from B.Com to MBA as smooth. I realized that in MBA if one has to sustain, then he better learn to manage time, else he just won’t be able to handle the pressure which the rigorous course offers.

I found myself to be more social, connected, lively, energetic and motivated here at IBA. This course has given me enough to last long in the corporate world. My pace of learning and understanding, my patience and my endurance is increasing day by day. Kavya S Bangalore Batch 2008-10 Creativity involves breaking out of established patterns in order to look at things in a different way. IBA is the first place that I learnt to “think creatively” rather than to “accept the monotonous”, a place where I learnt the difference between a manager and a leader and where I learnt that the out-of-the-box route is usually an arduous but ultimately rewarding route. 2 years at IBA have been the most rewarding years of my life. With a great campus, dedicated faculty and an interesting curriculum, you are bound to improve and enrich your personality. IBA has given me and many others a platform to nurture dreams and aspirations. The aim of education is the knowledge not of fact, but of values and this is what IBA stands for. Kishor Mohite Bangalore Batch 2008-10 It is said that “Successful colleges will start laying plans for a new stadium; unsuccessful ones will start hunting a new coach”. I am glad that I am part of such a successful institution. It gave me a platform from where I can easily see where I want to go. My two years at IBA were full of learning and fun. At IBA, you are not only taught about the Management subjects, but you are also taught about how to become a Leader and an Entrepreneur. IBA provides its students to unleash hidden avenues and develop wisdom beyond knowledge.

Before joining IBA, I was a bit skeptical about the scope as a fresher in an MBA college, but it all changed over a period of time. Most of the initiatives being student driven, like the clubs and committees, offer a great learning experience for budding managers. Also the multiculturalism (Mini Indiapura) followed here, broadened my horizon towards different Indian traditions. It’s difficult to find such a place where people are so different, so competitive and yet so close to each other. All in all, IBA provides ample opportunities to students to bring the best out of them and learn the art of effective management.

A C Varun Sekharan Bangalore Batch 2009-11 Entering a new university can never be easy for anybody. IBA is the place that certainly focuses on academic excellence as well as personal values. IBA ensures to recruit the best faculty to service the students and guide them in the best possible way. For me, the trepidation of entering the gates of IBA was doubly so, due to a recent accident of mine, which left me with a broken leg. However, my fears were allayed when seniors, my batch mates and even members of the faculty made it easy for me to cope in the first three months. This clearly displayed the sense of camaraderie and spirit which is truly reflective of the culture that IBA is built upon and today; with a great sense of pride I say I’m part of the IBA family. Tania Das Greater Noida Batch 2009-11 There is a different management philosophy practiced in IBA- GN which makes it different from other B- schools. The values and ethics taught here is truly unmatchable and surpassing the horizon. Its mission is not only to produce future management leaders but also instill in the students the sense of responsibility for the society and the nation. It is indeed doing commendable job of making students emerge with that extra factor to outshine others which is required in this globally competitive world. The various activities organized here have helped students realize and unleash their talents that they had been unaware of and thus creating eminent wealth for the nation. Rashi Gupta Bangalore Batch 2009-11 Before coming to IBA my perception of MBA College was something different, what I use to think was 24*7 lectures, very tough life, hectic schedules, after coming to IBA slowly came to know the value of all these things, as they inculcated discipline, commitment towards work and finally an energetic and positive approach towards life. Everything present in IBA campus, unlike most of the other campuses, has got a deep thought process behind it which proves to be a real value addition for every student. The clubs, committees, and time to time happening events give us practical exposure and make us realize our unique stand in the world.Apart from this, the celebrations of every festival make us feel at home. In one line we can call IBA,

Saurabh Gupta Greater Noida Batch 2009-11 IBA to me is an abode of knowledge. The amount of learning and the scope of all round development are just immense. The course is rigorous and very demanding but the challenges which we are exposed to all the time is the real experience to us. Being with the talented students and rich faculty in a residential program, the level of interaction is very high. In one day we do so many things right from attending lectures, quizzes, club activities, presentations, assignments that life at IBA never stops and that allows us to learn time management and handle the pressure. IBA has changed my perspective & a person as a whole. I am very sure that when I will step into ‘real’ world, lessons learnt in IBA will make me a vanguard. Sandeep Johnson Bangalore Batch 2009-11 The highlight of my experience at IBA was working with people of different cultures, languages and more importantly with different ideas, interests, talents and ambitions. The encouragement towards learning beyond classrooms through club activities and live projects defined a new dimension towards the application of what I learnt. Importance towards personality, discipline and the platform provided to enhance the application of the learning into the corporate life made it more special at IBA. The assets of IBA - its serene campus and the highly qualified faculty made it a great, fun filled learning experience for me and I can surely say - those were the best days of my life!!! Rohit Jha Greater Noida Batch 2009-11 Being at IBA I gained a lot of self confidence, a chance to map my career, according to the current needs of the professional combat.
