SHARING STORIES GUIDELINES 08 SHARING STORIES OFFERS UP TO $5,000 TOWARDS ARTS PROJECTS THAT ENCOURAGE COMMUNITY PARTICIPATION AND INSPIRE CREATIVITY, WITH A PARTICULAR FOCUS ON YOUNG PEOPLE. IN 2008, SHARING STORIES IS AVAILABLE TO SIX REGIONAL COMMUNITIES IN THE WHEATBELT AND GOLDFIELDS REGIONS OF WESTERN AUSTRALIA.

SHARING STORIES SELECTION CRITERIA: Projects should: 1. Increase awareness of the use and benefits of arts and culture skills across health practices 2. Encourage communication and relationship skills within a community arts practice setting 3. Express communities collective identity and communicate across cultures 4. Have the potential to encourage healthy community participation and inspire creativity through arts and culture

SHARING STORIES WILL FUND: 1. Projects where people have the opportunity to participate, learn together, share their stories and experience the arts 2. Projects that encourage you to work with artists/consultants who are skilled at involving communities through the developmental process 3. Artsworkers/consultants fees and also some production, promotion and administration costs.

SHARING STORIES WILL NOT FUND: 1. The TOTAL cost of the project, or if you are already in receipt of Healthway funding 2. Prizes or prize money, equipment purchases or conferences 3. Retrospectively 4. Individuals. The applicant must be an incorporated body. Non-incorporated groups/ collectives may be auspiced by an incorporated body.

5. Have long-term spin-offs 6. Be located in the Goldfields or Wheatbelt regions of WA.

FURTHER INFORMATION 1. You can nominate an incorporated organisation with an ABN to administer the fund such as your local council, P&C committee and so forth. CAN WA can assist with this process. 2. Applicants need to ensure they comply with state taxation requirements when contracting artists and coordinators for their projects. 3. You are advised to seek other funding sources such as your local council, other funding bodies and relevant stakeholders.

HOW TO APPLY 1. Speak to the Funding Project Officer about your project idea. 2. Complete application form titled SHARING STORIES.

3. Complete the budget page. 4. Attach the requested support material. 5. Send your application to CAN WA (be sure to keep your own copy). Applications should be concise, to the point and legible. Please do not staple or bind your application. Email a version as well, if possible.

6. Applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application approximately two weeks after lodgement.

PLEASE NOTE: APPLICANTS ARE INELIGIBLE for funding where smoking takes place, or is depicted or glamorised as part of an arts activity and where performance enhancing or other illicit drugs are condoned.
