Patina Maldives, Fari Islands has set ambitious goals to tackle marine plastic pollution and implement a comprehensive coral propagation project, helping establish the Fari Islands as a new standard-bearer for marine conservation in the Maldives.

CERAMICS AND CONSERVATION WITH KEVALA

Each piece of ceramic tableware at Patina Maldives is individually handcrafted by Kevala Ceramics in Bali, Indonesia. Join the Kevala artisans at the Fari Art Atelier for a series of exclusive pop-up pottery lessons and discover how ceramics can aid in the restoration of our coral reefs.

ADOPT A CORAL

Join our mission to help protect, restore and improve the biodiversity of coral reefs near the Fari Islands. Our marine biologist will guide you through planting fragments of corals onto a frame that will form part of the Fari Islands’ reef. You may also accompany our team on the boat to watch the placement of the frame directly into the reef. You will receive photographs and updates on the growth of your adopted corals every six months. Charges apply.

ADOPT A TURTLE WITH THE OLIVE RIDLEY PROJECT

Patina has formed a strategic alliance with the Olive Ridley Project, a charitable organisation that provides rehabilitation to injured turtles from the Indian Ocean. Sea turtles are vulnerable to ghost nets and have a habit of consuming plastic waste, mistaking it for sustenance and leading to general ill-health and malnutrition. Join our marine biologist to learn about how you can help with the study of turtle populations in the Maldives or support their rehabilitation efforts by adopting an injured rescued turtle. Speak with our biologist for more information.

BEACH CLEAN-UPS

Clean ups for trash free seas. Explore and search for marine pollutants and plastics along the shoreline and in the reef with Patina’s marine biologist. Help to clean and clear the marine environment for optimum health and growth of our marine ecosystem. All recyclable plastic collected on these clean ups will be sorted, baled and transported for recycling through the Parley Air program.
