We are EDITOR’S NOTE
You may have noticed that our magazine has had a little bit of a face-lift. In order to recognise the direction of the UK - and indeed the world –towards an electric future, and to bring EV Powered and Electric Home under one roof, we now present to you ‘Turning Electric’.
This magazine will continue to bring you the latest news, views and features from the EV world, as well as a monthly roundup of the sustainable living sector, so do not fret, the only change here is the name!
That’s the housekeeping taken care of, now let’s talk about what’s in this issue!
Our ‘Top Ten’ feature for this month is dedicated to all the amazing new EVs and concepts on display at the Shanghai Auto Show 2023. This event is one of the highlights of the global automotive calendar, and so we have compiled the ten best electric vehicles that were on display at Shanghai Auto. Head over to page 27 to see an ultra-premium 7-seater Lexus, BMW’s most powerful car ever and much, much more...
Last month, I flew out to Gothenburg, Sweden to see the guys at NIO and, in particular, the innovative Power Swap Stations that are changing the game for electric vehicle charging. This battery-swapping technology can replace the battery of a NIO electric vehicle in roughly five minutes, breaking down the charging barrier to EV adoption.
You can see a step-by-step guide of how this works on page 21, and be sure to scan the QR code on the page to see it in action on our YouTube channel.
There is a slight Swedish theme to this issue as we also showcase Candela’s new fully-electric foiling centre console boat. The Swedish brand has electrified America’s best-selling boat segment, and we have a four-page feature dedicated to the new C-8 CC electric hydrofoiling boat on page 17.
We also have a roundup of some of the latest electric vehicles releasing in our ‘What’s New?’ feature on page 25, as well as our usual electric motorsport coverage, including race reports from the thrilling Formula E double-header in Berlin last month.
