by Elizabeth O’Gorek
On Monday, July 19, the Boiling Crab opened at 400 H St. NE with swag giveaways and seafood dinners.
The restaurant was announced in fall 2020, and took nearly a year to open its doors.
“It’s been a challenging journey but we’re so excited to nally announce that our new location o cially OPENS next Monday, July 19th at 3 p.m.,” the restaurant wrote in announcing the event. “Thank you to everyone who’s been following and waiting for this announcement.”
The Boiling Crab boasts that they serve “Southern Hospitality without the long drive or plane ride.” 15 of the restaurants are located in California, but they can also be found in Las Vegas, NV; Dallas and Plano, TX; Honolulu, HI; South Miami, FL; Shanghai, China and Melbourne, Australia.
It’s a casual restaurant with an easy vibe. The former Driftwood Kitchen has been modi ed so that the entrance is on Fourth Street NE, through the patio; the old front doors serve as windows.
Restaurant goers select from a list of seafood, including crab, shrimp, craw sh and mussels to which they add a sauce (selecting the spice level). The restaurant also o ers fried cat sh, shrimp, calamari and hot wings, as well as chicken tenders for the kids. You can get gumbo, corn on the cob or fries and potatoes in a variety of ways.
