A
warm welcome to the 4th CAMRA Morecambe Beer Festival here at the Trimpell Sports & Social Club. To keep the Festival sustainable and for it to continue into the future a few changes had to be made the main change being the venue, if this is your first ever visit to the Trimpell Club I hope you enjoy the great facilities. Now let’s get down to the nitty gritty, we have 40 real ales and 15 ciders from all around the UK to tease your guzzle tunnels. These include the overall winner at last month’s GBBF the Tiny Rebel Brewing - Cwtch, which apparently means safe place or hug, so when you’ve tried it, go give someone a cuddle! We also have the easy drinking Titanic – Plum Porter the gold award winner for a speciality beer and it always goes down well. Our local breweries are well supported. These include, the most recent microbrewery to open, the Snowhill Brewery from Scorton. If you fancy having one or two of your five-a-day the Cider Marquee is situated outside on the cricket pitch so let’s hope the weather gods are kind to us. Cider has become very popular over recent years and hopefully there is something for everyone, out of the fifteen we have on offer.
This year we are supporting three charities RNLI, Marfan Association UK and Unique Kidz & Co. We would appreciate if you could give any donations possible to these causes. If you have any tokens left over or would like to donate your £2 glass refund, please stick it in the box on the refunds desk. Our staff may press gang you into doing so but don’t be afraid... they don’t bite! Now here comes the Oscar thank you speech. Many thanks to our main sponsor Cross Bay Brewery, together with everyone who has very kindly sponsored a barrel. Beer Festivals would never happen without the unpaid volunteers, so a big cheers to one and all and finally to The Trimpell Club for being mine hosts. I would personally like to thank Mike, Anne, Kelly and John for their work over the last few months to make the Festival happen... so if you see any of them give ‘em a nod, a wink and a smile!! I’ll give the last word to the town’s favourite son... Ernie “What would you say to a little drink?” ... Eric “Hello little drink!“

Nigel Stokes with his brew plant at Snowhill Brewery
SNOWHILL BREWERY Has arrived in the Lunesdale Branch Area
S
ituated in Scorton, Snowhill Brewery was established in Summer 2015, by Nigel Stokes. A passionate homebrewer for many years, Nigel decided to brew commercially after taking early retirement. On buying a 1.5 barrel plant, and obtaining his Brew Licence, Nigel has been providing beer commercially to pubs from Bolton, the South Lakes, Fleetwood and Lytham. He now has a repertoire of 3 ales; Snowhill Pale (3.7%), Snowhill Gold (3.9%) and Black Magic (4.1%), with a new addition to his range arriving in Autumn 2015, a stout, at around 4.8%. Anyone
4
who is interested in the brewing process is welcome to visit Nigel at his brewery, by prior arrangement. Two Snowhill beers are available at Morecambe Beer Festival 2015, so why not show your support by tantalising your taste buds with Black Magic and Snowhill Gold while you are here? We always showcase our local branch breweries at this festival, and hope Snowhill will stand amongst our longer established breweries for many years to come.
