AN ENEMY OF THE PEOPLE
Henrik Ibsen
for
children
An Enemy of the People is about Dr Stockmann, who discovers that the bathing water in the city’s spa is contaminated with dangerous bacteria. He expects people to value his discovery and thinks it will help improve the city. Instead, his political enemies try to destroy him, attempting to silence him with threats. Dr Stockmann stands his ground and in the last act, he delivers one of Ibsen’s most famous lines: “The strongest man in the world is he who stands most alone.”
An Enemy of the People is a play that outraged people in its day, but that has gained fresh relevance in our own era. This is the first book in a new series for children about the works of Henrik Ibsen.
With the aid of illustrations and simplified text suitable for younger readers, the series aims to introduce Ibsen’s plays to new generations all over the world. Ibsen is the world’s second-most performed playwright after Shakespeare. This series will give children an understanding of Ibsen’s texts and what they can teach us today.
Kåre Conradi (b. 1972) is one of Norway's most famous actors. He's educated at the Oslo National Academy of the Arts and London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art. TWO LITTLE KNIGHTS
The princess has gone missing – has she been kidnapped by the dragon?
Rosebush and Bang are sent off to bring her back. But it isn’t as easy as you might think. The Princess always causes so much fuss, and the dragon isn’t exactly a cuddly toy… and besides, Rosebush has just polished his sword. Maybe they should just drop the whole thing? That’s when Bang gets a text from the king – with dungeon emojis and all. No, it looks as if they’ll just have to get the job done!
This is a book about courage and heroic deeds, about getting dressed up and a little bit about not being all that bothered about princesses – or girls in general.

Kuhn (ill.) THE KNIGHTS GO FOR GOLD
The two little knights are back, just in time for the large knight tournament. And just like last time there is some seriousness beneath all the silliness: Why can’t girls do the same as boys? And does one HAVE to be tough and brave, just because one is a boy? The Middle Ages are almost at an end, after all!
It’s the annual knight tournament in Klampenborg, and Rosebush and Bang have been training for a whole year. They’ve probably snuck away a bit too, because it’s a little dangerous to do both sword fighting and archery – not to mention jousting. They don’t really want to take part, but Princess Begonia does! The problem is just that the King has said she’s not allowed to take part because she’s a girl. So the two little knights must help her to secretly prepare for the tournament. They have to train her for the exercises and find armour that will hide her face. Neither of those things are easy!

THE KNIGHTS AND THE GREAT BONFIRE
It’s Midsummer’s Eve, and Bang the knight has been given the task of lighting the great Midsummer bonfire. It’s a huge honour, but he’s dreading it! What if he can’t get the fire lit? Maybe he’d better practise a bit beforehand. But that could go badly wrong too – because once you’ve started a fire, it’s kind of hard to stop it again...
Bang and his fellow knight Rosebush head into the forest, but before they know it, they’ve been sent to Klampenburg Castle to look for Zippo, the Dragon’s little nephew. Zippo has been kidnapped by none other than Blackbeard, the wickedest robber in the country!

It turns into quite the trek. The horses are on strike, so the knights have to use the horse-replacement service –cows! But fortunately, help arrives from an unexpected quarter…

THE BILLY GOATS GRUFF AND SANTA
The goats attend the Christmas tree lighting. They eat gingerbread and talk to their friends, and everyone talks about Santa. But Santa has never visited the goats. Maybe he can’t find their home? Or doesn’t have the energy to walk up the steep hill? Or maybe it’s because the smallest goat is a little scared of Santa? No, probably not that.
But if they write their wish list and send it to Santa, THEN maybe he will come! As soon as they think it, they do it. What they want most of all is a sled with a steering wheel.
On Christmas Eve they eat dinner, they do the dishes – and they wait. And wait. Finally, the largest goat goes outside to get some firewood. Then FINALLY someone knocks on their door…

HERMAN – TALES FROM AN UNDIAGNOSED CHILDHOOD
Inside my head you will find the largest city in the world, traffic is humming day and night, the streets have no names and I play one hundred instruments at the same time.
Welcome inside the head of Herman. This is a head not quite like all others. As a child Herman is a little bit different. A little too much. Someone who cannot pay attention, learn quickly enough, do what he’s supposed to. But inside Herman's head, things are moving so much faster than for other people. He is Mr. Miyagi, he has a whole world inside his t-shirt, he has a triangle on his weenie, he fights with a samurai sword in the forest. The thing is, though, that no one else knows this. They are busy with listening to what the teacher is saying.

Hardly anyone at all!
The bad fairy gets cross when a boy moves into the flat next door to him. The boy only makes wishes that are impossible to grant, and won’t stop visiting! One day the boy asks the bad fairy what HE wants – but of course the bad fairy can’t grant his own wishes. What if the boy can, though? And what if they actually want the same thing?
A touching tale about wanting a friend – perfect for reading aloud.

Mats Eldøen NEVER BECOME
A MAGICIAN
Becoming a magician doesn’t always make life magical
Einar (12) plays Mage Tower, loves role-playing games, reads fantasy books and watches every film about magic he can lay his hands on. So he can hardly believe his luck when three weird elves turn up on his doorstep one day and tell Einar just what he’s always dreamed of hearing: he is a magician. And he’s the one who’s been chosen to stand up to the dreaded, secret organisation called the Order System that controls the whole world. But he only has 30 days to do it in. Einar is convinced that all his dreams have come true – until he finds out that learning magic is INCREDIBLY boring.
And it doesn’t help that the three odd elves aren’t just useless at teaching magic, but also at hiding from Einar’s dad. On top of all that, Einar still has to go to school, do his homework and decide whether to run for leader of the students’ council. But how is Einar affected by the sudden arrival of his magic powers? And what will he do when strange Captain Slash turns up at school?
Never Become a Magician is the first book in a fun fantasy series about how awkward things can get if you’re a 12-year-old whose dreams come true (just not exactly the way you thought they would). Despite having magical powers, you still have to navigate some of childhood’s toughest challenges: crushes, envy and privileged jerks.

WARNING
Warning! If a wizard ever knocks on your door to invite you along on an adventure – DON’T answer. That would be the stupidest thing you could ever do.
My name is Einar and I’m the least magical person you’ll meet in your entire life. You may think I’m exaggerating but seriously – you wouldn’t even notice that you’d met me. I have boring hair, boring glasses, boring T-shirts, jumpers, trousers, socks and shoes. Perhaps you’re thinking: Is that even possible? Well, actually, it is. One day when she was dressing me shortly after giving birth to me, my “mother” announced to my father Gordon. F. Andersen: “This is too boring” and went off to find herself.
Now, you don’t know Gordon F. Andersen yet, but the first thing you’ll get to learn about him is that he deals with every challenge he encounters at the drop of a hat. The second thing you’ll get to find out is that he is practical to a fault. He thought my mother had left because it was so boring having to choose clothes for me, so his solution was to order 15 sets of every item of clothing, one colour per size. As a result I was red from head to toe in Years 1 and 2, all yellow in year 3 and all brown in Years 4 and 5. Now I’m in Year 7 and I’m all grey.
Even though I’m incredibly unmagical, I know masses of stuff about magic. Ever since I was little, I’ve read every book and seen every film about magic that I could lay my hands on: Harry Potter, Willow, The Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, The Wheel of Time (I could go on for ages but the names would eventually get so unfamiliar that it would look as if I was making the titles up). There’s probably nothing I’ve ever wanted more in life than to find out that I’m actually magical, that I’m actually a wizard myself. When I was little, I broke my foot jumping off a roof, was hospitalised after eating a spoonful of chilli pepper and almost died after locking myself into the freezer for two hours – all of which I did to “wake up” the magic I hoped was sleeping inside me. Even now, not a day goes by when I don’t catch myself testing whether I can move my pencil through the power of telekinesis or think myself invisible.
The one thing that almost all stories about magic and adventures have in common is that they start with some old wizard knocking on your door. So maybe you’ll wonder why I wasn’t more ecstatic when not just one but THREE wizards did just that….

LOCOTOPIA IN THE RENAISSAINCE: INVENTIONS, EXPLORERS AND 40 ROBBERS
Welcome to the Renaissance.
Simon and Helena have to go down into the depths of the ocean, hunting for hidden treasures. Simon doesn’t think he can hold his breath for that long, but thankfully they meet Leonardo da Vinci. He’s just invented a submarine! And it’s totally safe – at least there’s a 50% chance it’s totally safe.
In this book there are mysteries, magic lamps and helicopters that ALMOST can fly… Inventors, painters and explorers have never been more fun. Mona Lisa’s smile has never been more alluring.
Locotopia in the Renaissance is the fifth book in Simon Stranger’s critically acclaimed series about the world history – a series that’s as hilarious as it’s educational. Every page has illustrations by Helena Lindholm.
Simon Stranger (b. 1976) made his literary début as a children's author in 2005. Since then he has written a number of critically acclaimed books for children and adults.

NORDIC NATURE
The nature of Norway and the Nordic region is unique. Although fewer species live here than in rainforests, tropical coral reefs or the African savannas, many of the animals and plants are among the world’s coolest, fastest, smartest and toughest. They can cope with cold, heat, rain and snow. They can survive on a starvation diet and are great at hiding.
Come along on a journey from the highest peaks and the wettest marshes to the deepest oceans and the world beneath the city streets. Get to know all kinds of animals, plants and fungi – both rare and common.
Few other countries have as much untouched nature, clean water and fresh air as the Nordic region. A walk in the forest, on the beach or in the city will never be the same again after reading this book.
The world-class illustrations are by artist Esther van Hulsen, and the text is written by award-winning author and journalist, Ole Mathismoen.
