DISNEYLAND Magical family holidays take in... AND WESTEROS

A driving holiday around England, Scotland, and Ireland — with a trip or two to Westeros — made for one of the best family holidays Steven and Melody Spence have ever had.

In 2017 the couple, who own Spency’s Auto Repairs in Gympie, Queensland, rented an RV and, together with their 11-year-old twin girls, explored the British Isles.

“It was awesome to be able to do our own thing,” Melody said.

The family’s “own thing” included touring the various places where the hit HBO series Game of Thrones was filmed.

“That was awesome because they had this swing bridge between two cliff faces, over the ocean, which we got to walk over,” Melody said.

Fortunately, the bridge crossing — and the holiday as a whole — was much happier and incident-free than your average episode of Game of Thrones.

But happy holidays are something of a family specialty. In 2015, the couple returned to Hawaii, where they had married a decade earlier.

“The same gentleman who was our celebrant renewed our vows, so it was very special,” Melody said.

That happy occasion was followed by a flight to Los Angeles and a family visit to “the happiest place on Earth”, Disneyland. The Spence’s like to go on overseas adventure every couple of years and always book their holidays with Capricorn Travel.

“We’re hoping to go to Hamilton Island, which we’ve never been to — which is amazing considering we’re in Queensland!”
