ELIMINATING VIBRATION & NOISE Most noise related come backs are due to the pad moving in the caliper; brake pad friction material is not the source of the noise. If a brake pad moves in a caliper it will leave witness marks on the brake pad; this is the area of concern. Address this area and the reason why movement is occurring and the noise will be gone. - Backing plate spring clips help reduce a torsional vibration that creates brake noise - Anti squeal paste will help hold the brake pad stable within the caliper bracket and caliper piston - Ensure glue or paste is cured before road testing to prevent dislodgement and potential brake pad surface contamination - Anti-squeal shim kits can be applied to metal to metal contact points to prevent movement and noise

The number one mistake in fitting brake pads is not cleaning and re-tensioning the spring clips and lubricating with high temp grease as it was done when the vehicle was produced. New brake pads need to be tight in caliper brackets; that is the function of spring clips.

SIMPLE STEPS TO STOPPING BRAKE NOISE 1. Remove pads and identify witness marks on pads that have been slightly moving in caliper. These marks will constantly be the cause of the squeal. 2. Clean all contact points and lubricate with high temp grease. Re-tension spring clips or replace. The pad needs to be tight in the caliper; this will solve 80% of noise related come backs. 3. If applying disc brake quiet or a silicone based product on the pad backing plates, allow product to become tacky in the caliper. Then apply brake 2-3 times in the stationary position and allow to dry. This squeezes glue around the bracket and piston, creating resistance for pad movement when brakes are applied. No movements = no noise 100% of the time
