THE FIVE HOT TIPS FOR SOLDERING 1. Always wear eye protection and heat resistant gloves. Cover all skin to prevent burns on your arms. 2. Keep your workspace clean and uncluttered, particularly free of anything that can ignite as solder can drip or splatter. 3. Don’t rest the tip of the iron on the bench and ensure it’s kept free of build up. 4. When soldering two or more wires together, insulate the finished solder with heat shrink. This is best applied before soldering then slip it over the exposed join. 5. Don’t solder anything connected to active power. A soldered wire is effectively an exposed wire and should be treated as such.
