Preparing for Your Session What to Wear Tips Easy Outfit
Keep it Simple
We will more than likely have baby undressed for most of the session, so bring them in an outfit that is easy to get on and off. And always have a back up outfit just in case.
If we are doing family photos as well, keep everyones outfits simple without bold colors and patterns. This will keep the sweet and simple feel of newborn photos.
Make Sure You are Comfortable Being confident in what you are wearing will help you love getting your photo taken. Make sure everyone loves their outfit, even the little ones!
Make Sure Baby has a Full Belly We will probably have to take a few breaks to feed baby and keep them sleep, but making sure they have a full belly before you arrive ensures we can start with a happy, sleepy baby! Make sure you have a pacifier as well, even if they have never taken one, trust me it will work wonders just this one time!
Arrive Early
Give yourself plenty of time to leave. We all know that anything can happen, and one explosive diaper can make you run behind!
Trust Me This might be the best tip I can give you to prepare for this session. You chose me for a reason, and all I ask is you tust my years of experience, the newborn safety classes, posing workshops, wrapping workshops, and general newborn workshops I have taken, and the end product I have envisioned for you. Your baby’s safety is my number one priority. I will always put my heart and soul in to your session to give you simply beautiful photos of your little one, all I need is a little trust.
Have a Tidy Area If we are doing a lifestyle session, please make the sure the area you want to do photos in is free of any clutter.
Just Relax! Your world has just been turned upside down by this sweet little bundle of joy, and I don’t want you to have one more thing to worry about! Enjoy a break while I photography your sweet little babe, and soak in the bonding time when we do photos all together.
Older Siblings and Your Session
Don’t be Afraid to Bribe
Prepare Them
Little ones love treats. Sometimes, a simple bribe is the best way to get them to cooperate for the session. Whether it is going for ice cream after, or a small toy they’ve been wanting. Remind them before, during, and always follow through. I have a treasure box and snacks for them as well!
Let them know what will happen during the session. That we will take photos with everyone, that they get to take photos with their new sibling, and then it will just be a few photos with parents. When kids are prepared and know what is coming, they are more likely to be be more cooperative.
Have Someone to Take Them Part Way Through This is the most important part. After family photos, it is best for the older siblings to leave. The quiet will help the posed photos of baby go smoother and quicker. It gets really warm in the studio, and the older siblings will get restless during this part of the session. So I ask that someone comes and gets them, or one parent takes them out of the studio.
What To Expect During The Session Newborn sessions usually take anywhere from 2-3 hours. I always have a the studio nice and warm to make sure baby stays cozy and to keep them nice and sleepy. It will seem as if there is more of me soothing baby than photos taken, but I assure you that is normal for every baby. We will probably have to stop to feed baby a few times, so please make sure to have whatever you need to keep their tummy happy. If we are doing a lifestyle session, it will be very laid back with lots of cuddles! If there is anything specific you want to try that I don’t usually do, please just let me know! All I ask is that you trust me!
Receiving Your Photos After I finish editing your photos, I will upload them to an online gallery. Once they complete uploading, I will send you an email, like the one to the left, with a link to your gallery. Make sure to read the accompanying email as it will have instructions and helpful tips for your gallery, as well as a few reminders. Your gallery will look a bit like the gallery to the right. It is where you can view, download individual photos or all the photos, share the entire album or individual photos, as well as purchase prints and canvases!
Paying for Your Session When I first email you your contract and questionnaire, at the end you will have paid the invoice either by credit card, or by clicking “mail a check.” To pay for the remainder of the session, you may access that same email, or I will be sending you another email shortly before your session. You may pay in advance, or if you would like to pay by check or cash at the time of your session, simply click the “mail a check” option again. If you have any questions regarding payment, please don’t hesitate to ask!
Ordering Photos While you are more than welcome to print at other places, I highly suggest printing from the lab connected to your gallery. In your gallery, each photo will have a shopping cart icon, or there is a “Buy All” button at the top. When you click the icon, a menu will pop up on the side with the different printing options, and you can pay right from the gallery as well. Then they will be shipped straight to you! If there is a product you don’t see that you have in mind, please just send me a message!
Leave a Review If you love your photos as much as I do, a review will mean the world to me! I love being able to see clients feedback and it also helps future clients! You can leave a review on Facebook or on Google. If there is anything that I can do to help make the experience better, please feel free to send me an email. I am always looking for ways to make your session be an exciting time for everyone!
